In Indonesia, agricultural land for oil palm plantation is mostly placed on slope areas. Erosion carries down surface soil layers which are generally fertile and rich in organic matter and nutrients, causing the loss of plant nutrients. Cover crops provide protection against the destruction of soil aggregates by rain and runoff. This research aims to study the effectiveness of vegetation as soil conservation in controlling erosion and runoff. This study was a field experiment on erosion plots of 10 m × 5 m with 1-2-year-old oil palm trees planted on a 15-40% slope, which were arranged in a Split Plot Design with replications as blocks, consisting of a combination of two factors: the age of the oil palm and slope as the first factor, and conservation techniques as a second factor. The results showed that the soil conservation techniques in oil palm cultivation could reduce the rate of surface runoff, soil erosion and nutrient loss. Soil conservation with upland rice -soybean -Mucuna bracteata, in sequence (T3) in oil palm 7-25 months old and 15-25% slopes (P1) were most effective reduced runoff, increase the infiltration and preventing soil erosion and nutrient loss in all age of oil palm and slope of land.
Abstrak : Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menguji jenis media tanam dan dosis mikoriza serta interaksi keduanya yang paling efektif untuk meningkatkan produksi tanaman melon. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) pola Faktorial dengan 2 faktor yaitu : Faktor pertama media tanam terdiri dari empat taraf, M0 = tanah, M1 = tanah + arang sekam, M2 = tanah + kompos dan M3 = tanah + arang sekam + kompos. Faktor II : dosis mikoriza (D) D0 = 0 g tan-1, D1 = 15 g tan-1 dan D2 = 30 g tan-1. Banyak ulangan yang dilakukan untuk setiap perlakuan yaitu 3 kali ulangan, setiap unit perlakuan terdiri dari 2 tanaman. Dengan demikian jumlah seluruhnya yaitu 72 tanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa media tanam berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, berat buah dan diameter buah. Jenis media tanam terbaik ditunjukkan oleh perlakuan arang sekam dan kompos. Dosis mikoriza berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi, diamater tanaman dan berat buah. Dosis mikoriza terbaik dijumpai pada perlakuan mikoriza dengan dosis 15 g tan-1. Terdapat interaksi yang nyata antara media tanam dan dosis mikoriza. Interaksi terbaik ditunjukkan oleh arang sekam dan kompos dengan pemberian dosis mikoriza 15 g tan-1.The Effects of Various Growing Media and Mycorrhizae Doses on Growth and Production of Melon (Cucumis melo L.)Abstract. The purpose of this research is to find out which interaction of two existing factor : growing media and mycorrhizae dosage, is the most effective for increasing melon production. This research use Randomized Block Design Factorial with 2 factors. First factor, growing media have four different condition, M0 = only soil , M1 = soil + husk charcoal, M2 = soil + compost, and M3 = soil + husk charcoal + compost. Second factor, mycorrhizae dosage have three different amount, D0 = 0 g tan-1, D1 = 15 g tan-1, D2 =30 g tan-1. Every existing combination of the two factors which summed up to 12 is tested with 2 melons each, and the research iterate the process 3 times to get the best result, 72 melons in total used in this research. Research result show that growing media highly affect melon’s height, diameter and fruit weight, the best result showed from husk charcoal + compost condition. Mycorrhizae dosage also highly affect melon’s height, plant diameter and fruit weight, best result showed from 15 g tan-1 amount. There is a real interaction between growing media and mycorrhizae dosage. Best interaction showed from husk charcoal + compost growing media condition with mycorrhizae amount of 15 g tan-1.
Abstrak. Penelitian pengaruh pemberian pupuk hayati Bioboost terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil beberapa varietas kacang tanah dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian dan Laboratorium Hortikultura Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh yang dimulai pada bulan Agustus sampai dengan Desember 2017. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian pupuk hayati dan varietas kacang tanah serta interaksi antara pupuk hayati dan varietas terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil kacang tanah.Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) pola faktorial dengan 2 faktor dan 3 ulangan. Faktor pertama yaitu konsentrasi pupuk hayati Bioboost yang terdiri dari 4 taraf dan faktor kedua yaitu varietas kacang tanah yang terdiri dari 3 taraf. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi pupuk hayati Bioboost berpengaruh terhadap jumlah polong bernas, berat biji pertanaman dan potensi hasil dengan konsentrasi terbaik yaitu 20 ml/l. The research used group randomized design method consisting of 2 factors and repeated 3 times. Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh beberapa konsentrasi mikroorganisme lokal dan NPK terhadap pertumbuhan bibit kakao. Penelitian ini dilaksanakaan di Kebun Percobaan 2 dan Labaratorium Hortikultura, Jurusan Agroteknologi Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh dari bulan Juni sampai Agustus 2018. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok pola faktorial 4x4 dan 3 ulangan, sehingga terdapat 48 satuan percobaan dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Jujur taraf 5% pada hasil uji F yang signifikan.
