To determine the growth performances and habitat characteristics of spotted halibut Verasper variegatus, successive samplings were conducted in the south-eastern coastal area of Shimabara Peninsula in Ariake Bay. The push-net samplings were performed at Kamaga beach from to collect the larger juveniles and adults. A total of 478 individuals from metamorphosing larvae to 2-year-old fish (15.2-447.0 mm total length [TL]) were sampled.
