Aim
The present study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of curcumin in both topical and systemic forms for management of oral submucous fibrosis in comparison with the antioxidants.
Methods
In this randomized parallel‐group single‐center trial, 119 patients were enrolled. Group I received antioxidants, group II received curcumin in systemic form and group III received curcumin in both systemic and topical forms. The primary outcomes assessed were interincisal mouth opening and burning sensation using a visual analog scale. The secondary outcomes were tongue protrusion and adverse reactions. The response to treatment was analyzed using ANOVA and Fisher's exact test.
Results
Significant improvement in mouth opening, burning sensation and tongue protrusion was observed in all groups at 12 weeks. Mean improvement in burning sensation did not show statistical difference across the groups. A significant difference between groups II and III for improvement in mouth opening and groups I and III for improvement in tongue protrusion was noted.
Conclusion
When administrated in both systemic and topical forms together, curcumin showed better results in the management of oral submucous fibrosis as compared with the systemic form alone or antioxidants. Curcumin has the potential to emerge as an effective alternative to conventionally prescribed medications.
This paper aims to investigate the relationship between intellectual capital efficiency and the attributes of corporate governance in the top 116 companies from 2012 to 2018. The VAIC has been calculated for the sample chosen, which did not include financial companies. The relationship between corporate governance structure and intellectual capital performance was investigated using panel data regression analysis. Results have shown that board size is negatively associated with intellectual capital and its components. CEO duality, on the other hand, is not found to be associated with intellectual capital performance. This study also shows that intellectual capital performance and human capital efficiency are negatively correlated with board independence, Indian promoters, institutional ownership, and foreign ownership. The components of intellectual capital performance, on the other hand, have yielded mixed results. The findings could be useful to policymakers while deciding on the composition and structure of the board.
Image Segmentation is an essential part of image processing to recognize an image. It is the process to find the subsets of an image on the basis of its characteristics such that values or/and position of pixels. The computational complexity of these type of problems are considered as an NP-complete problem, it is a very hard task to find the solution to such types of problems. A heuristic algorithm like GA, ACO and PSO can be used to find the solution of such type of problems. In the proposed approach the Dynamic Particle Swarm Optimization (DPSO) was used to find the approximate solutions for Image segmentation. Cumulative Histogram will be used to find initial random populations of the Swarm. The result found from this algorithm is tested at different levels of measurement and compare with existing PSO algorithm
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
