Abstract. The usage of e-Learning methodology has become a new attraction for potential students as shown by some higher learning institutions in Malaysia. As such, Universiti Selangor (Unisel) should be ready to embark on e-Learning teaching and learning in the near future. The purpose of the study is to gauge the readiness of Unisel's students in eLearning environment. A sample of 110 students was chosen to participate in this study which was conducted in January 2013. This sample consisted of students from various levels of study that are foundation, diploma and degree program. Using a structured questionnaire, respondents were assessed on their basic Internet skills, access to technology required for e-Learning and their attitude towards characteristics of successful e-Learning student based on study habits, abilities, motivation and time management behaviour. The result showed that respondents did have access to technology that are required for e-Learning environment, and respondents were knowledgeable regarding the basic Internet skills. The finding also showed that respondents' attitude did meet all characteristics of successful e-Learning student. Further analysis showed that there is no significant relationshipeither among gender, level of study or faculty with those characteristics. As a conclusion, the study shows that current Unisel's students are ready to participate in e-Learning environment if the institution decided to embark on e-Learning methodology.
This study is carried out to identify the levels of the Universiti Selangor (Unisel) staff's participation in physical activities. It aims to investigate the stages of their physical activities to determine whether these activities are beneficial to them or otherwise. This study is a descriptive survey research of which the data has been collected via questionnaire from 231 employees of Unisel in Bestari Jaya Campus. Respondents are asked questions about their physical activities based on the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPIQ). The findings reveal that many members of the staff of the Universiti Selangor practice physical activities as their way of life. However, the level of their participation in physical activities has not reached a satisfactory level. The respondents often carry out physical activities, but mostly their participation is still considered within the range of average to low level. The respondents' participation in physical activities is influenced by their attitude which seeks acknowledgment rather than practicing it as a healthy lifestyle. The findings shows that the employees' physical activity participation is very high. However, they do not carry out the activities according to the principles of physical activity domain. This study concludes that there are still many Unisel staff members that seldom treat physical activities as their everyday routines. The findings show that 106 of the respondents carry out physical activities at a low level, 49 of the respondents at the medium level and 76 of the respondents at a high level. The findings are insufficient to establish that the respondents have carried out the best physical activity practice. The results conclude that these Unisel staff members still need to be guided and educated in order to ensure that their participation in physical activities becomes a healthy lifestyle that is led by the whole community.
Efikasi kendiri merupakan elemen penting yang dapat mempengaruhi tahap pencapaian akademik mahasiswa terutama semasa proses pembelajaran atas talian di musim Covid-19. Kajian ini bertujuan bagi mengenal pasti hubungan efikasi kendiri dengan tahap pencapaian akademik mahasiswa di Jabatan Pengajian Islam Unisel semasa proses pembelajaran bersemuka dan atas talian berdasarkan kepada grade point average (GPA) yang diperoleh daripada semester lepas. Untuk mengetahui hubungan antara efikasi kendiri dan tahap pencapaian akademik memerlukan kaedah kuantitatif. Oleh itu, 30 mahasiswa telah dipilih daripada Jabatan Pengajian Islam Unisel bagi menjawab soal selidik dengan menggunakan aplikasi google form yang dianalisis secara deskriptif dan inferensi dengan menggunakan Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) versi 26.0. Hasil dapatan menunjukkan terdapat korelasi positif antara efikasi kendiri dengan tahap pencapaian akademik mahasiswa apabila nilai p=0.041 yang diperoleh kurang daripada nilai signifikan 0.05. Walau bagaimanapun, nilai korelasi Pearson r=0.375, menunjukkan hubungan antara efikasi kendiri dan tahap pencapaian akademik adalah hubungan positif yang lemah. Namun demikian, ia berpengaruh serta memberi kesan bagi meningkatkan tahap efikasi kendiri sekali gus meningkatkan tahap pencapaian akademik mahasiswa.
