Abstract: Semiotics in music streaming environments: mind, learning and continuity -Based on the notions of agency (Deleuze and Guattari) and semiosis (Peirce), this paper discusses a study of the hybrid forms of interaction between interfaces and human agents in the music streaming environments LastFM, Grooveshark, and Deezer. The Peircean model of semiosis is taken as the conceptual framework to explain how the hybrid forms of agency interact at the interface between humans and machines. This paper proposes the notion of "semiotic agency" as a conceptual tool in the study of the learning processes whereby machines acquire knowledge about human preferences and decisions and are able to transform them into recommendations. The relationship of continuity between human minds and interface agents is discussed from the Peircean perspective of synechism and semiosis as a continuous process.
This article proposes to investigate delineations of the audience in podcasting in streaming media ecology. To meet this objective, we highlight the scales between contents, circulation, and consumption of podcasts in platformization contexts. We observe these relationships from an intersectional approach that involves spaces between codes, contents and software to understand the dynamics of interrelationships between contents and its flows which are associated with the emergence of varied audiences, derived from listening practices, characterized by binge listening; fidelity strategies; hybrid recommendation practices, playlists and cross-device consumption in multiplatform architecture.
RESUMO: Este trabalho parte da apresentação do conceito de Umwelt de Jakob Von Uexküll e propõe uma relação entre ele, apresentado no âmbito da Biossemiótica, com as noções de Schutz (apud CORREIA,2005) e Mead (1998) Biosemiotics ambit, and Schutz (1987) and Mead (1998) (2011) notions about this same concept, highlighting the points of convergence between the views of these authors and the Peirce´s Theory of Perception. After presenting and discussing the concept of Umwelt, it is related to the concept of niche in the ecology of perception, and the relationship Umwelt and niche is problematized in terms of a communicative relationship between designers and interfaces users, as defined by the Semiotic Engineering. It is proposed to connect the communication between designers and users to the semiosis process correlates, identifying the designer's metacommunication, which aims to improve the processes of interpretation of the user, as discussed by the Semiotic Engineering, as a strategy of textual cooperation between reader and author, how Eco
