In this study, tetracycline group antibiotic residue was investigated in plain and flavored UHT milk of different brands. A total of 90 UHT milk samples (62 plain and 28 flavored) were analyzed by ELISA method. Tetracycline residues were detected in all samples as a result of the analysis. The mean level of tetracycline was determined as 6.98±0.38 ppb in plain milk and 6.53±0.48 ppb in flavored milk. Residue levels in analyzed UHT milk were found to comply with the legal limits announced by the European Union (EU) commission and Turkish Food Codex Communiqué.
In this study, beta-lactam group antibiotic residues were investigated in raw cow's milk. For this purpose, a total of 86 raw milk samples were used as material. Samples were collected periodically from farms in various outlets and surrounding villages in the province of Sivas. Beta-lactam group antibiotic levels in raw cow's milk were determined by ELISA method with commercial test kit. According to the analysis results, beta-lactam levels were between 0.35-0.70 ng/mL in 64 (74.4%) and between 0.71-3.7 ng/mL in 22 samples (25.6%) determined of 86 raw cow milk samples. The residue levels detected in the samples are in accordance with the legal limits declared by the European Union (EU) commission and Turkish Food Codex Communique.
This study was carried out to determine serum haptoglobin levels of pregnant cows with complications during pregnancy. A total of 28 animals were included in the study, 14 cows with healthy birth and 14 cows with complicated pregnancies, whose birth processes were followed in the same farm. Blood samples were taken from the vena jugularis into yellow capped biochemistry tubes at the 6th month of their pregnancy. Serum albumin, globulin and total protein measurements were made with an autoanalyzer. Determination of haptoglobin levels was measured in an ELISA device using a commercial test kit. Serum haptoglobin levels were found as 226.64±24.09 µg/ml in pregnant cows with complications and 46.71±2.98 µg/ml in healthy pregnant cows. Total protein 8.52±0.28-7.58±0.12 g/dL, respectively; albumin 3.31±0.08-3.34±0.04 g/dL; globulin 5.21±0.24-4.25±0.15 g/dL; alb/glb 0.65±0.03-0.80±0.04 was found to be in complicated and healthy pregnant. The aim of this study is to determine the effects of resveratrol used in adding it to drinking water. The study was conducted with 24 20-day-old male rats of the Wistar albino breed. The study design was determined as one control and two trial groups (each group with 2 parallels and each parallel with 4 rats). The first group was given a basal ration and drinking water. The second group was given the basal ration and drinking water with 10 mg/kg resveratrol; and the third group was given the basal ration and drinking water 20 mg/kg resveratrol. In serum biochemistry parameters, significant decreases were observed in serum AST enzyme activity, BUN, albumin, total protein and globulin concentrations and increase in albumin/globulin ratio in groups given resveratrol (p < 0.05). Regardless of the dose, an increase in the concentration of GSH from the antioxidant parameters was observed in the liver; In the kidney, an increase was observed in the Res10 group. In addition, a decrease in muscle SOD activity and an increase in muscle and kidney CAT activity were observed. A decrease was observed in MDA concentrations, which is a parameter of lipid peroxidation in the kidney. As a result, it was determined in the present study that resveratrol has antioxidant effects regardless of the way of use, and it was concluded that this additive can be used for various purposes.
