Background: Self care practices affect the progress of many diseases including lumbar disc prolapse. This study aimed to assess self care practices of patients with lumbar disc prolapse in the post operative period. Setting: This study conducted at neuro-surgery department and outpatient clinic at Azhar university hospital in New Damietta city. A convenience sample of 124 adult patients diagnosed with lumbar disc prolapse were included in the study. Tool of data collection: data collected using structured interview questionnaire, it included four parts: demographic data, medical and surgical history, pain intensity and follow up and Self-care practices of patients with lumbar disc prolapse. Results:The result of present study showed that 100% of the studied patients felt pain when doing an activity and 72.6 % of them had unsatisfactory self care practices in the post operative period. Conclusion: More than two third of the studied patients need improve self care practices regarding to unsatisfactory self care practices and there wasn't statistically significance relation between demographic data and self care practices.Recommendations: Design patient educational materials include proper self care practices of patients with lumbar disc prolapse in the post operative period . The health education program should be tailored every patient's individual needs .
Introduction: Cardio pulmonary resuscitation is a series of actions that may significantly increase the chance of survival following cardiac arrest. In most cardiac arrests, the critical elements of CPR are chest compressions and early defibrillation. Each situation is different depending on the rescuer, the victim and circumstances, but the key to success is early intervention. Aim: Developing, implementing and evaluating the effect of non-traditional teaching method on nurse's performance regarding basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Subjects & Methods: A quasi experimental study was conducted under the Authority Police Hospital at El-Agouza. Results: Less than half of nurses under study obtained very good in traditional teaching method and half of nurses under study improved knowledge and practice post used non-traditional method implementation with high effect skills after used film with booklet. Conclusion: The Level of nurse's knowledge & practice was increased after using non traditional method regarding to basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)..Recommendations: Suggested additional non-traditional for nurses regarding CPR to keep them in touch with advances in health education about using video film to easy understand to nurses and to give nurses based of knowledge and skills about CPR as non-traditional methods of teaching.
Background: Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is the most broadly recognized managed arrhythmia around the world. Identified knowledge and self-care to patients with AF is the way to successfully live with their disease. So necessary to this knowledge to be identified. This study aimed to assess knowledges and self-care of patients recently diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. A descriptive design was used in the current study. The study was conducted at intensive care unit and Cardiac care unit in El-zohor hospital, Port Said general hospital and El-tadamon hospital at Port Said city. A convenience sample of 110 patients recently diagnosed with atrial fibrillation included in this study. Tools of data collection, two tools were used for data collection; Patient's knowledge relevant information questionnaire and Patient's Self-care Scale. Results of the study revealed that, most of patients had moderate knowledges about atrial fibrillation and the level of self-care was observed to be high in male, highly percent among educated patients, in the individuals who work and live in urban areas. Knowledges was positive predictor of AF and self-care practice. Conclusion: most of studied patients had unsatisfactory knowledges and self-care about atrial fibrillation regarding themselves. The current study recommended that, Well-planned orientation, in-services training program and proper supervision of patients with atrial fibrillation is recommended.
IntroductionThe new CPR guidelines of AHA emphasize on compressions -according to the guidelines, a rescuer needs to press not only hard but fast. This is irrespective, whether the rescuer is an expert or a regular by stander. CPR in a simplified format lays focus on providing chest compressions help in maintaining blood flow and also oxygen in the same. As a result, blood flow is boosted and directed properly to the brain and heart of the concerning patient Aim: Assess Nurses' Performance regarding Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Subject & Methods: A descriptive study was conducted at the Police Authority Hospital El-Agouza. Results: that less than half of nurses of total nurses under stander study very good by used lecture in traditional teaching method and half of nurses under study excellent by non traditional method used film to explain knowledge and practice of C.P.R.Conclusion: The majority of nurses performance were have average knowledge and practices regarding to basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Recommendations: in-service educational program for nurses regarding CPR to to improve their level of performance regarding basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation
