The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of application of team strategies and tools to enhance performance and patient safety at primary healthcare units on patients' safety and outcomes. Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety (Team STEPPS) are specially intended to enhance patient safety through effective communication and teamwork skills. To examine, a quasi‐experimental (pre–posttest) design was utilized. Six primary healthcare centers in Egypt were selected. The subjects included composed of two groups: (1) All‐available healthcare providers (114) and (2) convenience sample of 108 clients. Four questionnaires were used, namely; the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture (HSPSC), Perception of Teamwork Questionnaire, the Short Assessment of Patient Satisfaction Scale, and Patient's Adverse Events Questionnaire. Results showed that there was a highly significant decrease in the level of weakness and the need for potential improvement of all 11 domains of the HSPSC survey except the staffing domain (p < 0.001). The teamwork perceptions scores showed significant improvement post intervention (p < 0.001). In addition, a highly significant decrease in the frequency of patient‐reported adverse events compared to a significant increase in patient satisfaction level was proved (p < 0.001). It may, hence, be concluded that Team STEPPS implementation had improved patient safety culture among healthcare providers and significantly improved patient outcomes.
INTRODUCTION:Nursing student engagement and educational environment play an important role in students' self-esteem. Therefore, all aspects of an person's life like academic achievement, the success in the job and social and professional development are affected by self-esteem, for that reason, the present study was aimed to investigate nursing student engagement and motivational education environment as requirements to improve Student's Self-Esteem. SUBJECT AND METHODS: A cross-sectional approach was used included 138 undergraduate male and female nursing students from the Shaqra University, (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). Three electronic tools built-in Google drive to collect data: Student engagement scale, Motivational educational environment questionnaire, and Self-Esteem Scale. RESULTS: More than half of the student nurses had a high engagement level in females and males but slightly high in females than males. Educational environment subcategories and show that the total educational environment in the level of motivational environment slightly high in females (93.9%), as compared with males. Self-esteem among it was high level (equal) in female and male. CONCLUSIONS: There were positive relationships between the total educational environment, many of their areas, and self-esteem among nursing students so, motivation educational environment were a requirement to improve the level of self-esteem among nursing students. Hence, allowing student choices throughout the classes will provide an ideal learning opportunity as well as foster a sense of "belonging to learning" that is essential to developing learning competence and lifelong dedication (and high-quality nursing staff with high-quality performance).
Background:The consistent use of recommended infection prevention practices is a critical component of quality health services, as well as a basic right of every patient, client, or staff member in a health care setting. Summary: This review of literature includes three sections. The first section is an overview about IUD; the second section is devoted to infection control measures in family planning unit while the third explain maternity nurses' practice of such measures.
