A cross-sectional survey on the prevalence of diarrhoea in pre-weaning piglets, and on management and feeding systems under farm conditions was carried out in Thua Thien Hue Province. Faecal samples were collected from 63 piglets without, and 90 piglets with diarrhoea to determine the occurrence of Salmonella, Escherichia coli (E. coli) and different E. coli antigens (K88, K99 and 987P). The prevalence of diarrhoea was higher in the rainy season than in the dry season (33% vs 18%) and the results indicated differences in prevalence between areas. Salmonella and E. coli were found to the same extent in faeces from piglets without and with diarrhoea. All E. coli antigens were isolated from piglets without and with diarrhoea. However, the frequency was much higher in piglets suffering from diarrhoea. In piglets with diarrhoea antigen K88 was found in 26% and 20% of the samples, antigen K99 in 37% and 24% of the samples, and antigen 987P in 31% and 32% of the samples collected in the dry and rainy seasons, respectively. Nutrient supply for sows and for piglets was low in comparison with feeding standards, which may be a contributory factor to the high incidence of diarrhoea in piglets. Thus, the nutrition of sows as well as piglets could be important components in the aetiology of the disease and needs to be studied further.
In response to the long-term challenges of skills shortages and mismatches, many countries worldwide have made significant investments in STEM education. However, to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the progress of global research on the implementation of STEM education, it is essential to compile case studies on STEM education. Therefore, we conducted a bibliometric analysis of 750 publications from Scopus database to assess the bibliographic content of case studies on STEM education from 2006 to 2022. Our main findings show that the first case study on STEM education dates back to 2006, and research in this direction has grown enormously and continuously over the last five years (counting for 72.9%). The most influential articles in the field are cited mainly in the background citations section and help provide an initial perspective for readers to understand the insights discussed later in the study. The most popular journals publishing case studies in STEM education are of good quality, ranking highly in Scopus and Web of Science categories. The analysis results show three main research directions: STEM education in higher education, STEM education expands to STEAM, and STEM education activities in K12-education.
Research Article to establish knowledge on their feeding ecology. Resh et al. [14] investigated the diet of A. marmorata and A. obscura in Rivers in the tidal zone in Moorea Island, French Polynesia. The low number of individuals studied does not allow for any firm conclusions to be drawn on their diet [14]. A study of Butler and Marshall [15] demonstrated that A. labiata in the upper Kairezi River, Zimbabwe predominantly fed on freshwater crustaceans [15].This study investigated the dietary component and morphology of the digestive tract of Anguilla marmorata during its yellow stages (non-migrants). A total of 127 samples, ranging in total length from 17-108 cm and weight from 10-3200 g were collected from Thua Thien Hue, Vietnam. The structure of the gastrointestinal tract indicated that Anguilla marmorata has the typical characters of carnivorous fish such as a wide mouth, small teeth in bands; free tongue; short esophagus, stomach, and intestines made up of folds. The mouth size of Anguilla marmorata ranged from 1.81-6.6 cm and it increased with the body weight of fish. Anguilla marmorata is an animal-eating species with an RLG (relative length of the gut) ranging from 0.34 to 0.41 (RLG <1). Crustacea is the preferred food of eels with the highest proportion of the number, weight, and frequency of crustaceans in the gastrointestinal tract with 65%, 64%, and 80%, respectively. Crustacea was also the most important food of Anguilla marmorata in the wild with the index of relative importance (IRI%)=79%. Correlation equation between length (L=17-108 cm) and weight (W=10-3200 g) of Anguilla marmorata is L=9.948W 0.0622 with correlation coefficient R 2 =0.93. Our report provides new dietary information about A. marmorata that is useful in nutrition planning and aquaculture potential.
One of the requirements in teaching process is to develop the thinking of learners. Thus, how an educator could organize teaching activities in order to enable the critical thinking ability of students in high school? Based on the stages of the solving process in the learning process of the student, the expression of critical thinking in each stage, the author would like to suggest educational orientation program following STEM system (STEM activities) in order to develop critical thinking of students. This article analyses the impact of using STEM activities on the development of students in some high schools in mountainous regions in the northern part of Vietnam. The results show the development of critical thinking of students through STEM activities and some superior suggestions for using STEM activities to motivate critical thinking of students in high school.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
