This paper reports on the chemical extraction efficiency in the removal of heavy metals from sludge from an activated-sludge system, which receives as influent both industrial and municipal wastewater. Utilizing a series of chemical extractants in a sequential order comprised the first phase of the research, called sequential chemical extraction (SCE). The work started with the well-known Tessier method followed by Veeken and by Sims and Kline SCE schemes. Afterwards, modified versions of Tessier and Veeken schemes were applied. The second phase, named chemical extraction using pH progressive changes, concerns an alternative to the extraction process. Four acids were tested: nitric, hydrochloric, oxalic and citric and the pH values as well as the time were varied. Some conclusions reveal that although modifying Tessier and Veeken schemes provides more consistent results, SCE is still an imperfect method regarding specificity and selectivity. Besides, it is not advisable to apply one SCE scheme developed for one specific situation to another one, once the accurateness of the method depends on several factors such as sort of material and chemicals, contact time, temperature, etc. The extraction efficiency increases using nitric or hydrochloric acids at low pH values, promoting high extraction efficiency level.
SiO2 particles and red-emitting CaMgSi2O6:Eu2+,Mn2+ phosphor have been added into a yellow phosphor compound YAG:Ce3+ to enhance the optical efficiency of white light LEDs whose average correlated color temperature (CCT) is in the range of 5600 K ÷ 8500 K. It was observed that altering CaMgSi2O6:Eu2+,Mn2+ concentration from 2 % to 30 % while maintaining 5 % of the SiO2 strongly influenced the color rendering index (CRI), color quality scale (CQS), and lumen efficiency of the compound. Besides, through the application of Monte Carlo simulation and Mie-scattering theory, it was possible to improve the optical properties by CaMgSi2O6:Eu2+,Mn2+ and SiO2 addition. The results provided a practical approach to achieve higher luminous efficiency and better color uniformity in remote-phosphor white LEDs (RP-WLEDs).
In the process of construction and development, Ho Chi Minh City is discharging about six types of sludge: 1) sludge from urban wastewater drainage systems; 2) sludge from industrial wastewater drainage system; 3) sludge from the canal dredging activities periodically; 4) sludge from septic tanks; 5) sludge from the water treatment station/plant; 6) sludge from the construction sites. Sludge's components are very different among types of sludge, sludge from the sewer network and canal dredging contain mainly sand and soil (70%-90% dry weight), while the sludge from the wastewater/water treatment station/plant and from septic tanks contain mainly biodegradable organic substances (55%-80% dry weight). The concentrations of all above-mentioned sludge (except sludge from the hazardous industrial wastewater treatment plant) are lower than toxic threshold. The volume of total sludge is about 3000-4000 m 3 /day (5000-6000 tons/day), excepting the amount of sludge generated from the water treatment plant (which is collected and treated separately). Sludge from wastewater treatment plants and septic tanks is collected, transported and recycled to become organic fertilizer. The other types of sludge are collected, transported, and disposed at the "unknown" locations, even though they have different values for use.
In this paper, the experiments on phosphor-converted LEDs (pc-LEDs) with a correlated color temperature (CCT) of 8500K has been conducted with the scattering enhancement particles (SEPs) to achieve the higher color uniformity and emitted luminous flux of pc-LEDs. Moreover, this paper also introduced about choosing scattering enhancement particles (SEPs), including calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and titania (TiO2), and compared these particles' properties by adding them into the yellow Y3Al5O12:Ce 3+ phosphor compounding. Afterward, the LightTools program was applied to illustrate the optical simulation, and obtained results was analyzed and verified by applying the Mie-scattering theory. The scattering coefficients, the anisotropic scattering, the reduced scattering, and the scattering amplitudes at 455 nm and 595 nm are included in the scattering computation of SEPs. According to researched results, among the SEPs, TiO2 particles result in the highest value of color uniformity. However, a rise in their concentration is the cause of a sharp decline in luminous flux. Meanwhile, CaCO3 particles show the ability of reducing the deviated level in correlated color temperature by 620K if there is employed 30% of CaCO3 concentration. Hence, CaCO3 particles are the recommendation for achieving higher chromatic homogeneity and lumen output.
English communication skills are now considered a passport-like requirement for students seeking a secure profession with a higher wage. Additionally, English proficiency is considered one of the variables affecting the success of foreign businesses investing in Vietnam and Vietnamese businesses looking to collaborate internationally to develop their brands into new markets abroad. The integration of various linguistic skills demonstrates the value of speaking. The main objective of this study was to investigate the frequency and importance of using direct speaking strategies by non-English-majored students at Dong Nai Technology University. The study involved 90 second-year undergraduate students at Dong Nai Technology University in Bien Hoa city, Dong Nai province. At the time of the study, the participants were 18-19 and had already attained elementary level. This research uses questionnaires and interviews using the SPSS application to analyze the main points relating to the research questions. According to research, direct speaking strategies significantly affect the English speaking skills of Dong Nai Technology University students. At the same time, the difficulties and orientations when learning speaking skills using direct speaking strategies were revealed in the study's conclusion. To maximize direct speaking strategies and advance the field of study, recommendations have been made for non-English-majored students.
