[Title: Lexicons of Flora in Balinese Metaphors: Ecolinguistic Studies]This research is an ecolinguistic study focused on metaphors that is related to ecological environment that concerns flora. The reseacrch is firstly aimed at finding and analyzing the lexicons of flora found in Balinese metaphors. Secondly, it is aimed at analyzing and describing cognitive metaphorical meaning between the source and target, and thirdly is aimed at analyzing and describing how the metaphors and metaphorical expressions were constructed. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative method. The written data were collected from some sources, like Basita Parihasa (book collection of words, sarcasms, metaphors, and others in Balinese), a short story of Balinese containing metaphorical expressions and a Balinese song lyric. The spoken data were collected from an informan as a native speaker of Balinese language.Based on the analysis results, The metaphorical meanings found in this writing mostly showed the similarity, such as body shape, characteristic, situation, and conditon of a human. In other words, cognitive process occured by conceptualizing bodily experience by similarity of the source and target domain in processing metaphorical expressions. It is also found that the Balinese metaphors were constructed by mapping process through ecolinguistic parameters. The mapping process occured, due to the similarity of character or system between source and target, especially Balinese people and ecological environment (flora which exist in Bali). The metaphors were also constructed by bodily experience of the language users which were recorded in human’s cognitive under the praxis social dimension.
Orientasi nilai budaya manusia merupakan faktor penting dalam mencapai suatu tujuan. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari pandangannya terhadap kehidupan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan pemahaman mendalam tentang orientasi nilai budaya petani rumput laut dalam pembangunan di Desa Ped, Kecamatan Nusa Penida. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang didukung oleh data kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui, observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan studi perpustakaan. Data dianalisis dengan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Berdasarkan data empiris menunjukkan bahwa orientasi nilai budaya yang digunakan oleh petani rumput laut di Desa Ped Kecamatan Nusa Penida di dalam memecahkan masalah-masalah kehidupan meliputi pandangan mereka terhadap hidup, pandangan terhadap karya, pandangan terhadap waktu, pandangan terhadap hubungan antar sesama manusia, dan pandangan manusia dalam hubungan dengan alam. Semua prinsip itu ditujukan untuk mencapai kemajuan. Orientasi tersebut menunjukkan pentingnya dinamika untuk keberhasilan pembangunan di Kecamatan Nusa Penida. <p><br />The community-based ecotourism (CBET) is a new paradigm of tourism to encourage<br />the preservation of nature and culture, as well as improve the economy of local people. The development of CBET “Taman Beji Griya” in Punggul Village which is managed by the extended family community, “Griya Gede Manuaba Punggul”, is the main focus of this study. This CBET combines natural attractions such as waterfalls and caves with malukat and tirtayatra rituals, without changing its socio-religious function. Through a management strategy and a SWOT analysis approach, the development pattern and the potential and constraints of this CBET can be identified. This study found that the development pattern of CBET “Taman Beji Griya” includes the environment scanning, formulation strategy, implementation strategy, evaluation and control. The potential and constraints for the development of CBET “Taman Beji Griya” include internal and external factors. The internal potential includes land ownership status, management competence, and family support. Its external potential includes positive responses from tourists, community support, and the influence of social media. Internal constraints include limited financial capital, human resources, and management. Externally, the constraints include government regulations, relationships with traditional institutions and local agencies, as well as uncertain sources of income.</p>
Nusa Penida refers to a small island located across the mainland of Bali Island. Geographical condition of the island is made of a hilly limestone area which is often considered as an isolated area with a stagnant pattern of its inhabiting community life. In reality, however, Nusa Penida features a dynamically developing phenomenon of change. In respect of this condition, this study aims to reveal the pattern of the people's sociocultural life of Nusa Penida during traditional agriculture to tourism industry. The problem in this study were examined using three theories: Theory of Cultural Ecology, Structural-Functional Theory and Theory of Sociology of Tourism. The study was conducted using a qualitative research method with a historical approach. The research data were collected through an in-depth interview and literature study. Data were analysed using a qualitative descriptive method. The results showed that the pattern of the people's socio-cultural life of Nusa Penida from agriculture to tourism, respectively, had its own characteristics, that is to say, traditional-agrarian, commercial-oriented traditional life patterns, and the tourism period led to the prominence of tourism services.
