Virgina Coconut Oil is containing saturated fatty acid compound such as lauric and oleic which can soften dry and rough skin. While the natural ingridients of black tea extract, secang wood and telang flower contain polyphenol compounds which have antioxidant activity, they also have attractive colors making them suitable as natural dyes for cosmetic ingredients. The purpose of this study was to determine how to make skin lotion from VCO with the addition of natural coloring extracts, as well to determine the physical, chemical, microbiological and the level panelists preference for color, odor, adhesiveness and appearance. The result of this study indicate that the best formulation is foun in F3 with the addition of black tea extracts. VCO skin lotion with the addition of black tea with has a specific gravity value of 0,97, stability of 70,12%, dispertion of 7,3 cm, pH 6,3, free fatty acids 0,021%, antioxidant activity 83,26%, SPF 36,13 and total plate figures were not found. The panelists preference level for color 4.0, odor 4.3, appearance 4.5 and adhesiveness 4.5.
Telang flowers (Clitoria ternatea, L) and pandan leaves (Pandanus paradisiaca) are plants that contain phytochemical components that are able to block sunlight from exposing the skin. While Virgina Coconut Oil (VCO) is able to moisturize and soften the skin. This study aims to determine the best formulation in protecting sunlight in application to the skin, as well as knowing the physical and chemical characteristics of skin lotion. This research uses an exploratory method with 2 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment is the addition of telang flower extract and pandan leaf extract to the VCO skin lotion. Evaluation is carried out on the physical and chemical properties and the level of panelist preference. The results showed different results from the two formulations, the highest protection value to the sun was the addition of telang flower extracts expressed by SPF 20.64, the antioxidant activity of 81.66%, pH of 6, 0.012% free fatty acids, a specific gravity of 0.94, 34880 cP viscosity, 65.25% stability, 6.0 cm spreadability, total plate count of 1.3 x 10-10 cfu / ml.
Weaning food is given as a complement to breast milk which is helpful for babies in the process of baby led weaning. At six months, the baby's digestive tract is able to digest some food such as flour so baby can be introduced to solid food. Purple sweet potato has good nutrition such as carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins, minerals, and water. Ultrasound modification is considered easier, simpler, and safer because it does not use chemical additives. This research used a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with one variable treatment and three replication. The variable was the ratio of sweet potato ultrasound modified starch and rice flour (0%:100%; 20%:80%; 40%:60%; 60%:40%; 80%:20%; 100%:0%). The result showed the ratio of sweet potato ultrasound modified starch and rice flour had significant effect on the chemical properties of instant weaning food. The significant result was shown by formulation of sweet potato ultrasound modified starch 100% and rice flour 0% with moisture content 3.88%, ash 0.69%, protein 16.87%, fat 1.66%, and carbohydrates 76.88%.
