The continuous evaluation of primary health care services is still a challenge in our country. The objective of the study was to analyze the work of the family health teams, based on the results of the self-assessment of the improvement of access and quality of primary care, in terms of the unit of analysis of the health team. This is a descriptive research with a quantitative, transversal approach and a technical documental procedure based on secondary data extracted from the e-Gestor electronic system. The study was carried out at the primary care board of the municipal health department in Cuiabá-MT. The sample consisted of 63 teams that participated in the third evaluation cycle. The municipality obtained an overall rating from the unit of analysis of the satisfactory concept. The dimensions, on the other hand, had the following concepts: permanent education, satisfactory concept; organization of the work process very satisfactory concept; comprehensive health care satisfactory and very satisfactory concept; social participation and user satisfaction, satisfactory concept, and; health program at school, regular concept. Self-assessment makes it possible to draw an overview of health services based on established quality standards, and contributes to the planning and implementation of strategies by the teams and management for the qualification of health care.
