Spatial transcriptomics and proteomics have independently transformed our understanding of complex biological processes; however, integration of these modalities is currently limited. To overcome this challenge, we developed Spatial PrOtein and Transcriptome Sequencing (SPOTS) for high-throughput integration of transcriptome and protein profiling within the spatial context. Applying SPOTS to spleen and breast cancer samples revealed that spatially-resolved multi-omic integration provides a comprehensive perspective on key biological processes in health and disease.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
