Summary
The article describes the development of a technology meant to kill wells in fractured carbonate reservoirs of the Republic of Bashkortostan with abnormally low reservoir pressure (ALRP) and high gas-oil ratio. Initially, various technologies were tested in wells to solve this problem: invert emulsion muds, biopolymer solutions, crosslinked gels and water-swellable polymers. However, they demonstrated low efficiency. A new killing technology based on a foam-gel system was selected and adapted to the existing conditions to enhance killing efficiency in complicated geological conditions. Successful tests were performed in three wells of reef fields with ALRP.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
