The objective of this study was to determine the influence of faculty workload on job satisfaction among academics in four public universities in Kelantan, Malaysia. Sample was randomly selected through systematic procedure and data was collected from 320 samples using self-administered questionnaires. The data was analyzed using descriptive analysis to describe the respondents' profile and using Pearson Product Moment Correlation to test the relationship between variables. The result indicated that there was negative significant relationship between daily faculty workload and job satisfaction. Organization should consider the amount of workload since reasonable daily load will determine the satisfaction of employees. High job satisfaction among employees will enhance organizational citizenship and loyalty.
Employee turnover has been a major concern among researchers in human resource development (HRD) area since it has negative impact on organization. This study was conducted to test the mediating effects of work-family facilitation and family satisfaction on the relationship between job demands as the independent variable and intention to stay as the dependent variable. Data was collected from 240 middle age single mother employees by using self-administered research questionnaire. Samples were determined through simple random sampling method whereby six out of 24 single mother associations were selected to obtain research samples. Descriptive statistical analysis was conducted to describe the demographic characteristics of respondents. Pearson Product Moment Correlation was used to determine the relationships among variables and Structural Equation Modeling using AMOS version 16.0 was utilized for model testing and to verify the presence of mediation effects. Then the Sobel’s z-test was used to examine whether the mediators carry the effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable. The findings indicated that there were positive relationships among variables. The results also established the presence of mediation effects between the independent and dependent variables. Organizations may utilize job demands factor, work-family facilitation and family satisfaction as mechanisms to promote longer retention among employees.
Taking into consideration the limitations of recently published studies, the present study explores the diverse outcomes of HR practices (training being one of them). From a literature-based view, it was found that organisational training improves learning capability in employees if psychological association (the value held) persuades them not to leave the organisation. The relationship between training and organisational performance is explained by employees' performance as well as organisational learning. Findings from this study have practical implications for HR managers and training institutions, and theoretical implications for academics. The formation of intangible assets is a key source of sustainable competitive advantage even in environmental volatility.
The leading agent of entrepreneurship is an entrepreneur who is accountable for the creation of a new venture. A plethora of research is conducted on entrepreneurial cognitive, personality traits, and motivation that creates new ventures creation, but the previous researcher ignores e-commerce. The previous researchers paid the least concern for entrepreneurial skills that contribute to new venture developments in e-commerce. The purpose of this study is to see the role of entrepreneurs' psychology and competencies towards the emergence of e-commerce ventures in Malaysia. Twelve entrepreneurs were interviewed by using the case study method from May 2013 to December 2014. The study resulted that personal background, work, and business skills are essential in establishing new ecommerce ventures in Malaysia. Seven factors of personalities such as creativity, risk-taking, inspiration, need for autonomy and freedom, tolerance of ambiguity, hardworking and persistence, and optimism are vital aspects of developing an e-commerce new venture in Malaysia. The motivation of the study has two types of internal and external motivation. Internal motivation includes (a) the need for achievement, (b) interest. In contrast, external motivation resulting from interactions with conducive environments such as consumers, members of the family, and industries increased the entrepreneurs' motivation impacting business success.
