Universities around the world have been pressured to cope with the external environments because of the new key player in the educational system-the globalization. In the Philippines, the government has recognized the need for the internationalization of the educational system. This has paved the way to Commission of Higher Education to give support to significant researches on this innovative change considering the number of HEIs operating in the country. Inline with this persistency of the country's educational system to globalized its operation, this study determined the extent of readiness of two public higher education institutions in Southern Philippines on the internationalization of educational system in the Philippines in terms of: a.) Mission, Goals and Plans of the University; b) Structures and Staff; c) Budget and Implementation; d) International Dimension on Research Activity; e) Support System; f) Promotion of International Affiliation; g) Internationalization of the University Curriculum; and h) Joint Programs withExternal Organizations. Using descriptive-survey research design, it was found out that the HEIs are slowly building structure and connections to bring an international standard of education to diverse people.
This study aims to describe women's access to PTKI (Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam/Islamic Higher Education) and ma'had aly institutions. The method used was a qualitative approach with a gender perspective. Interviews, observations, and documentary studies were applied to collect the data. This research was conducted in PTKI and ma'had aly institution that are located in East Java. The results show that there are gaps in accessing education between male and female students in the national context which can be seen from the net enrollment rate. This gap also occurred in women's educational participation at PTKI and ma'had aly institutions. The disparity of education access can be observed in terms of women’s participation in intracurricular and extracurricular activities at ma’had aly institutions. There is a difference in the level of women's participation in Islamic higher education for Islamic studies compared to ma'had aly.
The increasing number of cases of poverty and human-made disasters has exacerbated the issue of displacement in the previous years. Narratives of the experiences of the Internally Displaced Persons living in the cities have not been thoroughly reported at the local context. The purpose of this study is to describe the lived experience of the internally displaces persons currently residing in Cotabato City, Philippines. This research utilized mixed methods design in the triangulation of the results, quantitative approach was used in the first part of the study. Descriptive-qualitative data were gathered through Focused Group Discussion and in-depth interviews. Generally, this study discovered that IDPs consistently faced financial difficulties living with poverty in the rural areas, which motivated them to resettle and live in the urban areas. It was revealed that living in the city was definitely privileged for their peace of mind in terms of source of income which helped their husband sustained and augment their financial status, and inspired in religious gathering. Moreover, the IDPs preferred to stay in the city where their children pursue education, financially sustained, strengthen gender roles in Islamic teachings and access to health care services.
Finance has been described as a great challenge for every organization and considered the lifeblood of every institution which is used to finance its programs and services. The study determined the best financial management practices and the implementation in the local government unit of Cotabato City, Mindanao, Southern Philippines. It also identified the gaps in financial management in its covered local community. Interview guides and document analysis were used in the study. Using descriptive method, it was found out that the financial management of the local community was properly managed. Hence, there was a good financial management in terms of finances of the communities in Cotabato City as a basis of receiving the award of the seal of good housekeeping. It has been highly recommended to engage more trainings on the same field with the involvement of the second liner young officials. This study provides empirical data to the agency administrators managing the community. There will also be an identification of strategies to be adapted in the programs for implementation.
This study seeks to identify the extent of the awareness delivered by government agency about war against illegal drugs, preventing and countering violent extremism in the pursuit of peace and development in Central Mindanao. Pre-test and post-test as well as analysis of variance was used to analyze the extent of the awareness. The result shows that the awareness of the participants increase after each government agencies delivered lecture.
