An experimental linear relation in strong aqueous acids between overlapping indicators, available for the whole aciditv range, allows the determination of the pK, values of weak bases by a new method of approximation. A new activity coefficient function (Mc) in aqueous sulphuric and perchloric acid is also proposed. The thermodynamic equilibrium constants of various groups of compounds including primary nitroanilines, tertiary amines, amides, indoles, alkoxy-and hydroxy-benzenes, triphenylmethyl alcohols, and sulphoxides, have been reinvestigated and the results compared with those reported in the literature. The solvation effects of the medium on the Ma function are also discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
