This study aims to describe Korean YouTubers' Indonesian pronunciation skills and the results are expected to be used as learning materials for the Indonesian Language Program for Foreign Speakers (BIPA). Data were in the forms of the transcriptions of YouTuber's speech taken from the YouTube channels of Yuna Nuna, Sanghoya Oppa, and Bandung Oppa. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with a phonetic theoretical approach. Data were collected using note-taking and listening techniques. This study used the International Phonetic Alphabet application as the main reference in determining the phonetic symbols of speech. The results of this study indicated that the three YouTubers often pronounced labial sounds of [ w ]. Besides, the pronunciation of Yuna Nuna and Sanghoya Oppa tended to be in accordance with the rules of language sounds. This research was motivated by the problem of many mispronunciations of BIPA learners from South Korea. This is due to the differences in phonemes and sound rules. From various previous studies and experts, Koreans have difficulty pronouncing Indonesian vocabulary due to some differences in phonemes and sound rules with Korean vocabulary. One type of error that often occurs is the addition of phonemes, especially vocal phonemes or called Anaptyxis. The purpose of this study is to describe the mispronunciation by BIPA learners from South Korea in the form of adding sounds, especially Anaptyxis, so that the results of this study can be a material taught by BIPA teachers. Based on these objectives, the method used in this study is qualitative descriptive to analyze language errors at the phonological level. The study yielded 73 phoneme addition errors, consisting of the sound [ə] 35 times, the sound [i] 9 times, the sound [u] and [n] 3 times, the sound [y] and [g] 2 times, and so on with various causes. This research expects BIPA teachers to learn what language sounds are often misspoken by Korean BIPA students as learning or prevention materials so that no mistakes occur when reciting Indonesia's sounds.
Swear words can be referred as a means of expressing feelings. Therefore, the use of swear words is a linguistic phenomenon existing in Indonesian and Korean. Cultural and linguistic background of speakers, however, creates distinctive features of the words. Through the respective features, social characteristics of language community can be clearly reflected. This study aims to describe the difference and similarity of swear words reference in Indonesian and Korean depicted at humorous discourses of webtoon and meme. It is a descriptive-qualitative research. The data were collected from webtoon and meme as the result of observation and documentation. The analysis shows that there is pair of Indonesian and Korean swears words with similar reference, yet the meaning is slightly different. It indicates that there are similarity and difference between Indonesian and Korean. Finally, each language (Indonesian and Korean) has distinctive feature of swear words.
Technological development has to be used as an opportunity to introduce the Indonesian language as the identity of the Indonesian nation abroad. YouTube is one of the heterogeneous virtual platforms that involves people all over the country. This phenomenon encourages Indonesian to continue to compete with foreign languages so that efforts to introduce and maintain Indonesian should be intensified. This qualitative descriptive study aims to qualitatively describe the phenomenon of the Indonesian language pride of Jerome Polin Sijabat on the YouTube channel of Nihongo Mantappu. The data were the utterances of Jerome Polin Sijabat and other supporting YouTubers who use Indonesian and written comments from netizens obtained from the Nihongo Mantappu YouTube channel. The data sources of this research were the YouTube channel of Nihongo Mantappu. Data were collected by downloading, screen capturing, notetaking techniques, and viewing techniques. The results of this study indicated that Jerome Polin Sijabat has a proud attitude of speaking Indonesian. It is indicated when Jerome Polin Sijabat makes Indonesian as his identity. Jerome Polin Sijabat uses Indonesian when asking, inviting, informing, promoting to his friends who are originally from Japan on the YouTube channel of Nihongo Mantappu.
