Scientific literacy is one of the competencies that students must possess to face challenges in the 21st century. Scientific literacy is a skill to understand the surrounding natural and social phenomena and be able to make scientifically correct decisions to live more comfortable and better. Students who have scientific literacy skills are expected to be able to think critically, solve problems creatively, collaborate with others, and communicate better. The aim of this study is to show that the 7E learning model can improve the scientific literacy of elementary students. The research method used in this study is a quasi -experiment, one group pre-test post-test. The results of the pre-test and post-test showed a significant increase. These results indicate that the 7E learning model can improve the scientific literacy of elementary students.
This research aims at describing how bestseller food brand names in Grab and Go-Jek Application are created. To analyze the data found, the researchers applied English word formation in English morphology. The researchers used descriptive research. The data were bestseller food brands which found in Grab and Go-Jek Mobile Application. It is a kind of Application which provides delivery foods. The data were only taken from the 2019 period of those applications. The researcher found that the best seller food brand names in the Grab and Go-Jek application can be created by applying word formation such as compounding, borrowing, reduplication, abbreviation, acronym, and clipping.
This study attempts to analyze the ways shalawatan which is originally held for spiritual consumption needs (functional) become a commodity with an exchange rate (economical). Based on qualitative research on the Majelis Shalawat Syubbanul Muslimin Probolinggo by using Mosco's analysis method of media commodification, this study resulted that in the performance of Majelis Shalawat Syubbanul Muslimin in Kalikajar Probolinggo, in addition to the role of charismatic and motivational figures in the fulfillment of needs, the process of religious commodification is also obtained in each shalawat performance through audiences’ (Nahdliyin) relation to artists (Gus Hafidz) who basically have similarities with franchise models, such as Alfamart or Indomaret.
This study was intended to apply online recount texts to solve the problems of the eighth graders of SMPN 1 Sukodono in 2013/2014 academic year in reading recount texts. The reading materials were taken from the British Council site. This design consisted of one cycle involving four steps or procedures. They are planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The finding showed that by using online recount texts, the students could improve their reading comprehension. This was proved by improving the students' score from 68.6 in the preliminary test to 79.7. The numbers of students who passed the passing grade (75) improved from 36.12% in the preliminary test to 88.88% after the implementation of the strategy. Their reading skills developed, mainly in identifying main idea and detailed information, and classifying the text structure. Lastly, in terms of the students' attitude or response toward the application of online recount texts, 91% students gave positive responses.
