Cohesion is a semantic concept and part of the system of a language. The language can be orally or written. One of the indicators of good discourse (written) is having good cohesion and coherence aspect. This study is entitled Lexical Cohesion Analysis on Scopus-Indexed-Journal entitled “A New Control Method for Power based on Dynamic Evolution Control“. The aim of this study is to identify and describe the lexical cohesion in the Scopus-indexed article journal. This study is a qualitative research. The data sources in this study an article Scopus indexed-journal was obtained by purposive sampling. Furthermore, analysis of the data was done by identifying and classifying the data that related to cohesion, based on the theory of Halliday and Hasan (1976) and also analyzing used Spradley (1980). Based on the analysis, it was found five things related to cohesion and coherence. First, lexical cohesion devices which are used consist of repetition, synonymy, antonymy, hyponymy, and meronymy. The most frequent lexical cohesion used is repetition. Therefore, it can be of an interest to the (future) writer or researcher who are involved in writing journal. The study concludes that lexical cohesion determines writers’ tones in writing article and this ultimately contributes significantly enough in constructing persuasion and strong desire to persuade editorial boards of the journal to accept the article. It has also been highlighted that the findings of this study could be broaden in grammatical cohesion, and also be beneficial to researchers and ESL/EFL learners especially in persuasive and academic writing. Those aspects and factors can be considered to certain paper or journal article whether rejected or accepted in Scopus-indexed journal.
The research problem is slow learners at Program Pendidikan Berkebutuhan Khusus Politeknik Negeri Jakarta have difficulty in understanding the Indonesian teaching materials, especially in combining the two ideas. These difficulties have an impact on the ability of their writing and speaking skills are low. They cannot make the final project using the correct Indonesian. On the other hand, they are students of diploma 3 that according to KKNI standard that graduation of diploma 3 must have the qualification level 5. Students are slow learner students who have intellectual 65--90, according to Weschler scale. This problem must be found solutions by conducting development of Indonesian learning model based rationality. That rationality model is based on SCREAM by Mangunsong (2009) that the structure, clarity, repetition, anthusiasm, and maximized engagement can make a slow learner students better understand the material, while the research conducted by development research. Research results are Indonesia learning based rationality can be done by (i) based on the structure, (ii) attention law of exercise), (iii) attantion of law of proximity), (iv) attantion law of pleasure), (v) giving repetition, (vi) giving stressing), and proving fun learning.
The ability to translate terms related to research is needed by the academic community: lecturers and students so that this ability needs to be understood and mastered. Therefore, this article describes guidelines for translating research-related terms. Research-related terms are specific terms used in research activities. The focus of the study in this article is a model that can be used as a guide in translating terms related to research. What is conveyed in this article is the results of research with a superior scheme of study programs carried out with a qualitative research approach with reference to the main data from the results of the translation of terms that are able to produce optimal translation quality and from the opinions of translation experts. The results of the study found that established equivalent, borrowing, and transposition were the most effective techniques that could be used to translate which were able to produce optimal translation quality.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
