This study investigated the undergraduate students’ perceptions of the use of Moodle learning management system in UsmanuDanfodoyo University, Sokoto. The study adopted descriptive survey design. The population of the study include all the undergraduate students from the University. Target population include all the 9200 students from the Faculty of Education and Extension Services. A sample of 370 students was selected as guided by the Research Advisors (2006) model for determination of sample size. A researchers’ structured instrument titled “Questionnaire Measuring Students’ Perception of the Use of Moodle for Learning” (QMSPUML) was used for data collection. To ascertain the reliability of the instrument, a pilot study was conducted and an index of 0.89 was obtained. Results from the study revealed that the undergraduate students had positive perceptions of the utilization of Moodle LMS. It was also found that some of the problems associated with the use of the platform for learning include inconsistency of power supply, technical and psychological issues. The study concluded that since the students perceived the LMS positively, it is crucial for the University to improve its ICT capacity and make available to students all necessary supports and facilities they need to excel academically.
Mobile instructional app (MIA) is a set of instructions put together as a program usually installed on mobile devices to facilitate learning and improve academic performance. MIA helps to motivate students for the enhancement of positive academic performance, thus, it could be utilized in an individualized or in a blended learning environment to supplement traditional teaching-learning process. This study investigated the effects of mobile instructional app on undergraduate students’ academic performance in economics in Sokoto State. The study adopted quasi experimental with a pre-test and post-test, non-equivalent comparison involving 2x2 factorial design.All undergraduate students in Sokoto State formed population of the study. A total of 61 undergraduates formed the sample for the study, 34 for experimental group one (23 males and 11 females) from Sokoto State University (SSU) and 27 for experimental group one (22 males and 5 females) from Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS). Pilot study was carried out at Federal University Birnin Kebbi using twenty 100 level undergraduates. Economic Principles Test Instrument (EPTI) was used for data collection. Reliability coefficient of 0.78 using Kuder Richardson 20 (K-R, 20) was obtained. Research hypothesis one was tested using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA), while hypothesis two was tested using t-test statistics. The study found among other that the app was academically effective. There was significant difference in the achievement of the undergraduate students exposed to mobile instructional app and those taught using blended approach (F (1, 58) = 13.649, p<0.05) in favour of experimental group 2. There was no significant difference in the academic performance of the undergraduate students taught in a blended learning environment based on gender. The study concluded that the mobile instructional app (MIA) enhanced the academic performance of undergraduates from the two universities (UDUS and SSU) irrespective of gender. It was established by the study that the undergraduates taught in a blended learning environment out-performed those exposed to MIA alone. The study therefore recommended that lecturers should endeavour to develop and utilize mobile instructional apps that are in line with new NUC benchmark to supplement teaching process.

This paper intended to study the attitudes of postgraduate diploma in education (PGDE) students towards the use of instructional screencast for learning. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. Population of the study include the 13 postgraduate diploma in education students admitted as at 2018/2019 academic session, and all were selected as sample for the study. Objectives of the study were to: categorize the postgraduate diploma in education students offering CSI 702 in the 2019/2020 academic session into digital native and digital immigrants based on their dates of birth; and determine the attitudes of the postgraduate diploma in education students offering CSI 702 in the 2019/2020 academic session towards the use of screencast for instructional process. The instrument pegged “students’ attitudes to using screencast for learning” (SAUSL) was used to obtain necessary information from the respondents. It was validated, pilot study conducted, and reliability index of 0.98 was obtained using Cronbatch Alpha. Results from the study revealed that 92% of the respondents were digital immigrants, and they had positive attitudes towards the use of screencast for learning. The study concluded that even though the digital immigrants (respondents) had shown a positive attitude towards the use of the screencast, the paradigm shift in the education sector “new normal” necessitated the use of technology to facilitate the instructional processes. Therefore, digital immigrants are left with no option than to embrace the use of technology for learning. It was recommended by the study that lecturers, especially in the higher institutions of learning, should adopt the use of screencast in their instructional process. This would help flip the classroom, and economically manage lecture time.
