Nowadays Facebook users has covered a variety of backgrounds, ranging from state leaders, to domestic workers (PRT). Although often associated as the lower classes, these domestic workers are active users of this social networking sites. Through qualitative research methods, with in-depth interview to the informant who work as domestic workers; it is known that they use Facebook because it has become a substitute for a close friend that they have in the real world. It is therefore important for the informants to present themselves differently on their Facebook profile page. Both informants present themselves on social networking sites which are consistent with the role, manuscripts and costumes. It is seen through a variety of content that they upload, interaction that exists through the profile pages and photographs displayed on their profile. As related to their profession as domestic workers, both are equally debilitating stigma by not associate themselves with their profession. The successful impression management on the front stage was assessed through like signs and positive comments given audience to the informant. For both informants, like signs and positive comments are a form of acceptance and attention that are given to them by their friends.
Bagi sebagian perempuan Indonesia, bekerja menjadi Tenaga Kerja Indonesia (TKI) luar negeri adalah salah satu cara untuk membantu keluarga keluar dari kemiskinan. Sayangnya perjuangan kaum perempuan yang bekerja sebagai TKI ini kadang tidak didukung oleh suami dan keluarga mereka. Banyak suami TKI yang menyalahgunakan kepercayaan dari istri –istri mereka, menelantarkan keluarga; bahkan menggunakan uang kiriman dari sang istri untuk berbagai perilaku menyimpang. Melalui sinteron “Dunia Terbalik” yang ditayangkan di RCTI ini kita diajak untuk melihat sosok suami TKI yang sangat bertolak belakang dari suami TKI pada umumnya. Sinetron ini menggambarkan suami yang dengan ikhlas menerima tugas sebagai “bapak rumah tangga”. Hal inilah yang disebut Jean Baudrillard sebagai hiperrealitas, dimana simulasi dari realitas menciptakan realitas baru atau hiperralitas yang menyelubungi realitas yang sebenarnya. Para suami diperlihatkan ikhlas menggantikan peran istri dan meletakkan kekuasaan mutlak di tangan istri. Hiperrealitas yang diperlihatkan pada sinetron ini dapat menjadi titik awal yang memunculkan konsep kesetaraan gender, serta berkontribusi untuk menghapuskan stigma negatif yang melekat pada kalangan TKI serta keluarga mereka.Kata Kunci : hiperrealitas, gender, peran, TKW, sinetron, stigma, negatif
For some working women, becoming a domestic worker is the only way for them to support their families. When they choose to work as domestic, they automatically become associated with negative stereotypes from the community. Through in-depth interviews conducted with three female domestic workers as informants, this study presents narratives related to their experiences working as domestics. The narratives from these three women who work as domestics showed that they were able to explain clearly the job that they do, and that they have positive associations to their profession, even though they realized that they are doing a job that is considered dirty and lowly by the community. A good relationship with the employer, as well as a comfortable working atmosphere, is one of the factors that determined the construction of meaning related to the job. Narratives from women domestic workers in this study showed that they are able to create positive meaning related to a job associated with negative stereotypes because they have a good relationship with their employer and family.
Social media plays an important role during the Covid-19 pandemic, where physical activity and community mobility are limited. Especially for women who work as domestic workers who live with their employers. Social media is the only means for them to connect with the outside world.Previous studies have shown that a person's identity can be shown through the front stage and the back stage. Theoretically, this study analyzing how women domestic workers identify themselves through the online realm using social media. This study uses a constructivist paradigm and a qualitative approach. The research participants were three women domestic worker who were obtained purposively using the snowball sampling technique. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and observation to participants. The results of the study show that social media allows participants to construct a reality in the online realm that is different from their situation in real life. Therefore, social media has a very important meaning for participants, because with social media, participants feel their position is equal to other users. They also have access to create a front stage and a back stage, where they can create their ideal self-identity. The aspect of self that are presented by the participants on the front stage is individuals who are successful and happy with their lives. For participants, this is an aspect of their ideal self, even though it does not represent their actual state.
Di masa pandemi berbagai organisasi kemanusiaan berperan serta mengedukasi masyarakat melalui beragam media, salah satunya adalah Palang Merah Indonesia dengan akun PMI TV (@pmitv17945). Terdapat 11 konten video PMI TV terkait edukasi kesehatan di masa pandemi COVID -19. Konten edukasi tersebut mendapatkan tanggapan positif dari masyarakat. Kredibilitas PMI TV dalam memproduksi konten edukasi kesehatan terlihat melalui beberapa konten mereka yang kemudian digunakan sebagai materi edukasi oleh stasiun televisi nasional. Karena itu, tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan strategi tim produksi PMI TV dalam mengembangkan pesan edukasi kesehatan di masa pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif, yang di dalamnya semua informan ditentukan secara purposive. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik wawancara mendalam, observasi, serta studi literatur. Sedangkan analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan coding tematik. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan ada tiga strategi yang dilakukan oleh tim produksi PMI TV dalam mengembangkan pesan edukasi di masa pandemi Covid-19, yaitu diseminasi pesan edukasi kesehatan melalui saluran media yang dapat diakses oleh target khalayak yang dituju dalam hal ini Youtube; adanya proses kolaborasi tim produksi PMI TV dengan berbagai pihak terkait produksi pesan edukasi kesehatan; serta upaya mempertahankan kredibilitas PMI TV sebagai komunikator yang berpengalaman di bidang kemanusiaan dan kesehatan sehingga pesan yang disampaikannya dapat diterima oleh seluruh lapisan masyarakat.
