Introduction: This study investigated the effects of resistance training and Eurycoma longifolia Jack supplementation on isokinetic muscular strength and power, Wingate anaerobic power, and testosterone: epitestosterone (T/E) ratio in young males. Methods: Forty young males were weight-matched and assigned into four groups: control (C), Eurycoma longifolia jack (ElJ), resistance training (RT), and Eurycoma longifolia Jack plus resistance training group (ElJ & RT). Participants in ElJ and ElJ & RT groups consumed 200 mg Eurycoma longifolia Jack daily, whereas participants in the C and RT groups consumed placebo capsules daily for 8 weeks. Resistance training program which consisted of 10 different exercises was conducted three times per week for 8 weeks. Participants' isokinetic muscular strength and power, anaerobic power, and urinary TE ratio were measured before and after the intervention period. This is a randomized placebo-controlled intervention study. Paired t -test and one-way analysis of variance were used for statistical analysis. Results: The mean average power of knee flexion at 300°/s in the RT and ElJ & RT groups was significantly ( P < 0.05) higher in the posttest compared with pretest. Wingate relative peak power in the RT group increased significantly ( P < 0.05) compared with respective pretest value, whereas peak power in the combined ElJ & RT group was significantly ( P < 0.05) higher in posttest compared with pretest. There was no significant difference in T/E ratio between pre- and posttests in all the groups. Conclusions: The prescribed resistance training program, either with or without ElJ supplementation, improved isokinetic power of the lower limb. Resistance training alone improved relative anaerobic power, whereas combined Eurycoma longifolia Jack and resistance training improved peak power output. ElJ consumption of 200 mg daily for 8 weeks did not affect the urinary T/E ratio.
Happiness is the key factor in part of human life. A growing number of studies had highlighted health benefits derived from happiness. Physical activity had gained increasing attention on its association with happiness. Psychologists are focusing more on physical activity as it relates to happiness. The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between happiness and level of physical activity among students of FSR in UiTM Seremban. A total of 317 respondents had participated to complete the survey. The respondents were primarily female 55.2% (N = 175) and male 44.8% (N=142). The age of respondents is 18 -20 years old 23.3% (N=74), 24 to 26 years old 1.6% (N=5) and above than 26 years old 0.3% (N=1). The survey was getting its respond highest from students at the age of 21 to 23 years old 74.8% (N=237). There were 317 respondents who took part and the results of the respondent's physical activity level shows that majority 67.2% were in moderate intensity (N=213), 19.2% were in high physical activity intensity level (N=61) and 13.6% were in low level of physical activity (N=43). As for happiness level score the results illustrated that majority 92.4% were in moderate level of happiness (N= 293), followed by 6.6% respondents were in high level of happiness (N=21) and 0.9% were in low level of happiness (N=3). The result showed the relationship between physical activity and happiness among students of FSR shows significant positively strong relationship between both variables. Overall, the present result from this study will provide theory and understanding that sports improve people's enjoyment by decreasing tension and improving mood that in turn makes people happy.
This study measured the impact of the different phases during movement control order on quality of life among local Malaysian university students' aged >18 years old. An online survey was distributed through a social media platform during movement control order (MCO; 20 April to 12 May 2020) and conditional movement control order (CMCO; 12 to 20 May 2020). The same participants completed SF-36 quality of life questionnaire that assessed the overall physical health, mental health, and eight domains which are physical functioning (PF), physical role functioning (RF), bodily pain (BP), general health perceptions (GH), vitality (V), social role functioning (SF), emotional role functioning (EF), and mental health (MH) in both phases. A total of 523 participants (Male = 222, female = 301) completed the survey. A Wilcoxon signed-rank test showed that there was a significant difference in participants' quality of life between MCO and CMCO phase. It was revealed in comparison to CMCO phase, the participants reported lower in both health related and mental quality of life for PF (
Archery is a type of sport which participants release the arrow after aiming the target. The shot of an arrow must be accurate to the highest score on the target face. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the most the most contributing variable in archery performance. Methodology: A total of 31 females and males, aged between 13 – 18 years old from Pusat Latihan Negeri Unit Sukan Prestasi Tinggi, Majlis Sukan Negeri, Negeri Sembilan participated in this study. They were involved in different level of achievement in archery competition, ranging from beginner until expert archers. They were also free from any injuries. The participants engaged in three test, which were arm muscle strength test, push-up test, stork balance stand test. Result: The Pearson correlation analysis showed there was significant relationship among variable measured. In addition, regression analysis showed the arm muscle strength and muscle endurance were the most contributed variable in archery performance. Findings and discussion: These elements can be indicators of an archer’s skill level and can be applied as important parameter to select potential archers and also assessment of archer’s performance. The time taken to develop the archer to become an expert archer can be shortening due to focusing on important variables.
Diet and nutrition apps are among the most popular health and fitness apps used by an increasing number of mobile device users. Undeniably, health and nutrition are some of the valuable aspects of life. With the introduction of mobile computing, health knowledge became much easier to understand due to its mobility and usability. A vast range of smartphone apps is emerging for tracking health and food. However, the existing mobile applications in Malaysia are lacking some important features. To address this limitation, the present mobile application responds by attempting to design and develop a Malaysian mobile nutrition application known as EatNTrack. EatNTrack is a mobile nutrition application that provides crucial features such as the ability to capture the food especially Malaysian foods, scanning food barcode, set the goal and calories of the day, a reminder for the user to capture the food, monthly progress of user, and integration with a wearable device. The needs of these features will give insight into many aspects of a user's eating habits. The more specific and accurate users with reporting, the more accurate their information will be. The aim of the study was to establish an innovative mobile-based dietary awareness tool that could be used to monitor target users' food intake.
