This article presents youths’ opinions on the positive or negative Coronavirus (COVID-19) impacts from economic and daily routine perspectives. Interview sessions were conducted to determine the intricacies encountered by Malaysian youth communities. Although adverse effects involving unemployment denoted the key issue of local youth communities, positive counterparts were equally identified. For example, youths strived to venture into novel fields (online businesses and food delivery services) following new social norms. Predictably, this study would increase policymakers’ awareness in determining the positive and negative influences faced by marginalised youths during the COVID-19 health crisis.
Financial wellbeing is important for individuals to have a better life which is achievable by managing their personal finance. In fact, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Malaysia has witnessed the loss of employment among young employees. Previous research relating to financial wellbeing has focused on the factors which are financial literacy and financial problems towards financial wellbeing. However, financial capability and work environment were not much explored. Therefore, this research will target young employees aged 20-40 who are affected during Movement Control Order (MCO) in the Northern Area. This paper presents the factors that will be examined and several issues on the inconsistent results from previous studies. The findings from this study are important to identify which determinant gives impact to the financial wellbeing and faced by young employees in Malaysia. Furthermore, employers will gain additional information regarding their employees’ financial situation and able to overcome their difficulties. The government will also be able to provide financial assistance or job placement for young employees who are affected by this financial constraint in their life.
This study aims to examine religious discrimination against Muslim workers. There are three objectives in this study, namely to identify the level of discrimination against Islam, to identify differences in the level of discrimination against Islam between the sexes, and to identify differences in the level of discrimination against Islam between employers of different religions. Purposive sampling and snowball sampling methods were used to select a sample consisting of Muslim workers working as salesmen. A total of 132 questionnaires were analyzed from four different shopping complexes in Johor Bahru, Johor. The results of the study found that the level of religious discrimination is at a low level. In addition, researchers also found that male workers were more likely to experience religious discrimination than female workers. In terms of the religion of employers, non-Muslim employers are more likely to discriminate against religion than Muslim employers. In conclusion, in the context of this study, religious discrimination against Muslim workers is at a low level.
