Thickness dependence of magneto-optical properties of Co-wedgeh'd-wedge sandwich was investigated employing the magneto-optical micro-magnetometer and spectroscopic technique. At the fixed CO-layer thickness, Transverse Kerr effect (TKE) decreased with increasing Pd-thickness and oscillated along with Pd-thickness periodically. The period of the oscillation was equal to about 1.2 nm. The oscillatory behavior of TKE was ascribed to the spin-polarized quantum well states in the Pd-layer. It was discovered that the Pd layer exerted an influence upon the magneto-optical properties of the Co-wedge more significantly in the ultraviolet photon energy range.Index termsmagneto-optical effect, sandwich, wedge-shaped layer, quantum size effect.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
