Epoxy oligomers are among the most common types of binder, for some time have been widely used as the base material of adhesives, reinforced plastics, and coatings, and can be cured in a wide temperature range. Systems cured at room or reduced temperatures have a number of shortcomings associated with the limited choice of curing agents. The product of interaction between phenol, formaldehyde, and ethylenediamine-AF-2 [1]is the most commonly used cold curing agent.
Composite materials based on epoxy-bisphenol A resin ED-20 are widely used in different areas of the national economy, in particular in construction. They are used as protective corrosion-resistant compositions, weatherresistant compositions, sealants, adhesives, and binders for composite materials. Depending on the service requirements, it is necessary to modify the available compositions or to develop new compositions with the necessary combination of properties.
Materials based on epoxy oligomers possess a unique combination of valuable processing and service properties. High adhesion to many metals, low shrinkage during curing, chemical resistance, high strength-this all ensures their successful use as cold-curing sealing and adhesive compounds in different sectors of industry.
Resins based on epoxy oligomers are widely used in the production of cold-hardening sealing compounds in various branches of industry. The main requirement is high adhesion. One of the ways of controlling the properties of the resin is chemical modification with polyfunctional reactive oligomers, particularly oligourethanes [1-3]. In the present study we used a resin consisting of ED-20 epoxy resin and a vulcanising agent Etal-45 based on aromatic amines. The modifiers were urethane oligomers with differing end groups-hydroxyl (HUO) and epoxy (EUO). The compositions were prepared by mixing the components with subsequent curing at T = 18-20°C under a load of 0.01 MPa. The adhesion strength in shear (σ sh) in systems of adhesive-metal was measured against the amount of modifier in the ED-20 with different times of cure (1-7 days).
Polyester glass fibre reinforced plastics have been widely used in shipbuilding, car building, engineering, the chemical industry, and construction, in the carrying out of repair work on underground pipelines by the trenchless method, and so on [1-9].
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
