indicating that the structure of the reverse micellar assembly was retained.13The systems studied here show the potential for higher ordering that chemical oscillators can display with the addition of spatially ordered features. Such a situation could have been important at some point in chemical evolution. In a more specific manner it may be envisaged that successive accretion of different types of ordering was a central process in the chemical evolution of life. We note that adding the effect of spatial organization to the hypercycle accentuates its selectivity.14 Acknowledgment. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
