Timeliness of the problem being studied is determined by a necessity to form general cultural competences of students of institutions of higher technical education, as changes in society, social and economic life of the country lead to shifting the values and, simultaneously, to decrease in the cultural level of people. The paper is aimed as looking for new ways within the educational system of the institution of higher technical education, directed towards humanization and humanitarization of higher education that is to facilitate development of general cultural competences and optimization of the higher technical education as a whole. The leading method of study of this problem is a pedagogical experiment that allows for revealing as well as giving theoretic justification and experimental confirmation of the maturity level of the general cultural competences of technical students during the learning process. The research sees the interdisciplinary approach as an important pedagogical subsystem of the learning process, built with considerations for its essential characteristics on the foundation of competency-building and student-centered approaches; at that, some pedagogical conditions are implemented in the form of intersubjective relationships being built between an instructor and their students. The scientific and methodological material presented in the paper and used during binary lectures and practical sessions facilitate development of the general cultural competences during theoretical studies.
The article deals with terminological borrowing as a way to develop an oil and gas terminological system in modern conditions of globalization and developed communication technologies. The article studies the types if borrowed words, describes methods for borrowing foreign language vocabulary by national terminological systems. It analyzes structural and semantic features of borrowed terminological units. The article overviews linguistic approaches. The authors conclude that Greek and Latin morphemes which have become an international terminological basis for all European languages are often used as standard term elements in the terminological systems. Borrowing is a way used to eliminate conceptual and translation gaps.
Interdisciplinarity of higher education aims to improve such interdisciplinary skills as interdisciplinary thinking. Within the scope of this study, interdisciplinary thinking is defined as the ability to integrate the knowledge of two or more disciplines, improve the learning process, and produce results that would be difficult or unlikely to achieve when using a separate discipline. It is considered as a complex cognitive skill consisting of a number of sub-skills. The review showed that to date there is a small number of scientific studies focusing on the interdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning. The study further advanced the understanding of the necessary components of interdisciplinary thinking and the typical conditions that ensure its development. This understanding will provide a basis for further development of interdisciplinarity in higher education.
The article discusses the results of social and humanitarian studies on the reforms of higher education which influence the development of professional culture in engineering students. The issue of training specialists capable of competing in the global labor market is of particular relevance. New transformations should expand the functions of vocational education, so that highly qualified specialists can be socially mobile, intelligent, aware of social cultural norms, etc. For this reason, development of speech culture in the everyday, scientific and industrial areas is one of the most important requirements when training engineering students. One of the solutions to this problem which determines the speech culture level of engineering students is competent self-presentation and an ability to speak on any topic. It is necessary to improve competitiveness of graduates of technical universities. The study makes it possible to analyze the level of speech culture developed in engineering students in the modern education system.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
