The study examines the impact of information and communication technology on the performance of deposit money banks in Nigeria between the periods 2006 to 2015. The log-linear regression model was used to test the impact of various forms of information and communication technology on the banks return on equity (ROE), the computation of the result was done using the econometric computer software package, e-view version 8.0. The result shows that the adoption of various forms of information and communication technology has greatly influenced the quality of banking operations, performance and has specifically increased banks return on equity. Information and communication technology usage can sustain returns on equity of deposit money banks in the long run. The study recommends that investment in information and communication technology should form an important component in the overall strategy of banking operation, as these will make Nigerian banks to be more efficient, profitable, and competitive.Contribution/Originality: This study contributes to the existing literature that investigated the use of ICT in Nigeria banks'. Currently there is the paucity of studies in Nigeria that examines the interbank transactions with the aid of ICT. This study contributes an important dimension in the search for better performance of Nigeria banks.
Leadership is a key factor for the success of business. The main objective of this study is to assess the leadership style employed by various hospitality businesses with a view to determine the most efficient and effective leadership style suitable for the sector that could lead to success in other to curb or reduce failure of hospitality business. Data were collected from twelve hospitality organizational units cutting across directors, managers, and supervisors, through a survey questionnaire carried out in hospitality facilities made of four numbers each of the three different grade of the hospitality industry in Nigeria (five star, three, one). Data gathered was analysed using weighted mean factor and component bar chart. Also focus group discussion was employed to strengthen and collaborated evidence and findings from field observation by the author. The finding shows that amongst the various leadership styles used in the hospitality industry, transformational leadership is most effective for the industry. The study recommended that for hospitality business to be successful, it must adhere to keeping good staff, gain employee and guest/customers loyalty that improve their market share. The transformational leadership style has the highest degree of positive effect on hospitality sector that can produce business success result for the industry.
The study centred on participatory decision making and organizational goal attainment. This study investigated the extent to which participative decision making affects the organizational goal attainment. The study had a sample size of 136 obtained using the Cochran statistical formula. The study employed a survey research design. The instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire. The data from the responses were presented in frequencies, simple percentages. Three hypotheses were tested using the chi-square X2 and t-test statistical tools. The study found out that: Employee participation in decision making significantly improves job productivity (X2 cal = 2.554 > X2 0.5 = 0.6763); employee participation in decision, making relates to employee motivation (Fc-test = 21 .56 > ft 1 = 2.01); the policy of employee participation in decision-making is significant in organizational goal attainment (X2 Cal = 1.887 > X2 0.5 = 0.6763) The study, based on the above findings, concluded that for the goal attainment of any organization to be achieved successfully depended on the extent to which the organization integrated the workers into the policy formulation and implementation. The study recommends that organizations should adopt the ring show management theory as a way of survival.
