This paper discussed the contemporary digital literacy skills (DLS) among librarians in university libraries the 21st century in Edo and Delta States of Southern Nigeria. The study was guided by six objectives and research questions and one hypothesis. The design of the study is descriptive survey and the population consist of all librarians from university libraries in the aforementioned states in Nigeria. The instrument used to generate data is the questionnaire and the date generated was analysed using simple percentages and frequency count for research questions and SPSS version 14.0. The findings show that electronic mailing, social networking, use of PDAs, mobile phones and internet surfing are the major DLS amongst librarians. It was also discovered that librarians acquired DLS through colleague's assistance, trial and error, IT programmes and formal education while librarian's level of use of DLS is low amongst other findings. Researcher made useful recommendations.

Thisworkistherebyaimedatdeterminingstudents'abilitytouseeducationaltechnologiesusing BellsUniversityofTechnologyasacasestudy.Astructuredquestionnairewasadoptedandusedto generateinferencesfrom300studentsthatservedasthepopulationofthestudy.Findingsrevealed thatthecomputerabilityofasignificantnumber(75%)ofthenewlyadmittedstudentsislowand thatwillhaveanadverseeffectontheirabilitytocopewithacomputerizededucationalsystem.The study thereby recommends the need for hands-on computer training sessions to students gaining admissionintotheinstitution.
This study was conducted in December 2010 to find out students perception and attitude toward vandalism in the library. To gather the required information, a questionnaire was distributed to 1400 randomly selected students of university libraries in the South-South zone of Nigeria out of which 718 responded. Results of their responses revealed that vandalism of library materials in the form of theft, mutilation and hiding of books and journals, is largely regarded as a form of academic survival, this makes student to put up "I Don't care" attitude to library materials. The major causes of vandalism of library materials include limited library collections; restrictions in the use of some materials; number and duration of loans; insufficient number of copies of recommended textbooks; unaffordable cost of personal textbooks; high cost of photocopying as well as peer-influence. Amongst others, researchers recommend the following: training and retraining programme for users, extension of loan period; adequate funding; robust security measures and punishment of offenders.
This paper reviews the role of public libraries in bridging the digital divide in Delta State. It calls for the adoption of appropriate infrastructure and other innovative measures like introduction of appropriate computer related programmes in schools, encouraging citizenry to pick up carrier in the area of science and technology, embanking on enlightenment and awareness programmes and setting up regional/local information resource centers by government especially through the use of the internet also, the challenges of digital divide was revealed. The work concludes that unless appropriate measures are taken in Delta State and Nigeria generally they will be relegated to the background in this knowledge age.
The purpose of this chapter is to examine the concept of cyber crime as it relates to cybercafés, forms of cyber crime, the role of the Internet, and suggest measures of cyber crime control and prevention in cybercafés. This chapter unveils the various forms of cyber crime and preventive measures with the view to addressing insecurity on the Internet and methods of protecting cybercafés systems. This chapter revealed some forms of cyber crimes to include computer viruses, data dwindling, hacking, data leakages, trapdoors, scavenging, e-mail bombing, and so forth, and equally suggested preventive measures such as user education, legal regulations against cyber crimes, international cooperation, restricting system use, limiting access to certain programs, and so forth.
