One of the most effective ways of integrating people with disabilities into society and ensuring their comprehensive personal development is to engage people with disabilities into Paralympic Games. Such engagement creates the necessary conditions to socialize people with disabilities, to adapt their physical and mental states to existing living conditions, to ease negative manifestations of their psycho-emotional states, to promote their self-realization. The article presents the results of the research determining the impact of sports on Paralympic athletes’ personal development. The comparison of the indicators of psychological well-being and hardiness of Paralympic athletes with normative values, the indicators shown by students without disabilities and students with disabilities has confirmed proven clear positive influence of sports on Paralympic athletes’ personal development. In particular, Paralympic athletes achieve an optimal level of psychological well-being and a significant increase in all psychological hardiness components.
The Paralympic sport has become an important tool for post-traumatic recovery, adaptation, integration and social inclusion of people with disabilities. Disabled people involvement into sports activities has important social implications not only for a person but also for society as a whole. Due to relative "youth" of the Paralympic sports, there are no enough studies aimed at creation of necessary scientific support not only for full-scale trainings and competitions of Paralympic athletes, but also for provision of full integration of Paralympians into society with the means of the Paralympic Sports, which is extremely important. High importance of psychological and socio-psychological research in this context is obvious. The article presents the results of our research aimed at identifying of common characteristics and factors of Paralympic athletes’ self-realization in order to promote the efficiency of trainings and competitions and full-scale integration into society
<p>The article describes the psychological study determining the factors that support fundamental assumptions of students with disabilities. We have determined correlations between psychological hardiness of students with disabilities and their system of fundamental assumptions; beliefs in the benevolence of the surrounding world and people, in the meaningfulness of some events, in a chance to build successfully one’s own life and in one’s own luck have a significant influence on psychological hardiness. The predictors of psychological hardiness of students with disabilities are: positive interactions with the outside world; self-acceptance as a conscious acceptance of various aspects of one’s own personality; personal autonomy, which allows an individual to independently determine their own behaviour, assess adequately their capabilities and resist external influences.</p>
The purpose of this study was to investigate the personal characteristics supporting Paralympic athletes' selfrealization in sports. The study involved 106 members of the Paralympic and Deaflympic teams of Ukraine (16-53 year-old, the average age of 28.3 ± 7.2 years; 84 men with the average age of 27.7 ± 6.7 years and 22 women with the average age 30.3 ± 8.3 years) in different sports (football, fencing, power-lifting, sitting volleyball, judo, canoeing in pairs, swimming). It is determined that the most important personal factor supporting Paralympic athletes' self-realization in sports is their psychological hardiness. Their self-efficacy, capacity for self-organization of their activities and psychological well-being can also be considered as significant personal characteristic necessary for their self-realization in sports.
This article focuses on physical education in Ukrainian universities in modern crisis conditions. The significance of the problem is in the factors which reduce the level of motivation of students during the studying process, as well as in finding the solution to this problem. The purpose and objectives of the study are to promote this type of motor activity, such as flanking with Cossack weapons. We have developed the program on flanking technical basic elements mastering for the special medical group students. The expediency of this program implementation in the process of physical education in universities and colleges has been scientifically substantiated.
