The article is dedicated to the problem of foreign language teachers' diagnostic competence development. It reveals the problematic issues connected with the obtaining integral estimates of students' foreign language communicative competence formation levels. The study presents a technology of integrated assessment based on the recent mathematical and statistical methods realized with the help of information and communication technologies. The first experiment proves the technology contributes to the accuracy and reliability of integral estimates by 9,1%. The second one assures that training teachers to use the technology improves their levels of diagnostic competence by 21,9% in average.
It is foreign languages that allow one to carry out one’s professional duties at the international level, in particular in the academic field. Besides, they are recognized as a key to the development of human culture, which opens new opportunities for international integration and deepens cultural, intellectual and communicative functions of languages. Considering its historical post-totalitarian specifics and social roles, the development of foreign language education in higher education institutions (HEIs) in Eastern Europe, in particular Ukraine, includes materialist and pragmatic and partly postmodernist trends, which need to be studied and analyzed in the context of a modern, postcolonial society. The research aims to systematize theoretical issues and generalize the experience of developing foreign language education for future humanities teachers in pedagogical universities in Ukraine (the mid 20th century - the early 21st century), as well identify some proper ways to implement authentic and world experience into the modern practice of training future foreign language professionals. The following pedagogical strategies are considered to be certain productive areas in the combination of classical and postmodernist trends in education: the integration of repetitive teaching methods and creative activity; the combination of modular and problem-based learning; the use of non-communicative models and cognitive strategies of foreign language education; the introduction of models of foreign language education, which make it possible to specify social, professional and research activity of the student’s personality; the reinforcement of extra-curricular activities in the context of foreign language education.
High requirements for the training of military specialists include improving the quality of language education for students of higher military educational institutions, which can be done by reforming inefficient methods of teaching a foreign language. Moreover, when updating and improving existing methods, as well as during the development of new technologies for teaching foreign languages, it is necessary to take into account the specifics of the educational institution, the secrecy and isolation of the military organization. Taking into account these features, as well as the impact of the global pandemic factor, modern methods of teaching a foreign language in higher military educational institutions should be aimed at developing professional competence and developing a diverse personality capable of expressing their views in direct contact and during distance learning. Distance learning, as the newest form of didactic practice, has become an important test not only for teachers, administration, but also for students. In the article the authors identify the main problems of effective support of the educational process in higher military educational institutions, as well as a historical analysis of the development of methods of teaching foreign languages to defense specialists with further evaluation of the effectiveness of these methods for training military specialists. The results of the study allowed to determine the peculiarities
In this article the method of the integral assessment of the level of students` foreign language communicative competence by the group of experts through the complex test in a foreign language is considered. The use of mathematical methods and modern specialized software during complex testing of students significantly improves the expert methods, particularly in the direction of increasing the reliability of the assessment. Capitalizing analytical software environment realizes the simulation of non-linear generalizations based on artificial neural networks, which increases the accuracy of the estimate and allows further efficient use of the competent experts` experience gained in the model.
