Virtual Reality (VR) is an essential technology in today's internet world. VR is capable of delivering an exceptionally competent understanding of a topic, demonstrating a tool, or even conveying an idea through its incredibly realistic environment. Epsilon is a state of the art skin measurement instrument. Initially developed by London South Bank University research group as a research project. Epsilon has now been marketed and utilised in many organisations worldwide. Nevertheless, Epsilon requires thorough on-site training which is costly and time-consuming. Therefore, there is a real need for a Virtual User Manual (VUM) to train clients on how to operate Epsilon and demonstrate all its features and functionalities. This paper presents the development process of a web-based interactive 3D virtual user manual for the Epsilon medical device. The VUM is a step by step interactive 3D guide that will display to users, trainees and clients all of Epsilon's characteristics with the aid of audio and illustrative text. Additionally, it will direct them on how to operate this skin medical instrument efficiently. The interactive VUM will provide users with an extremely realistic ambience presented in 3D content employing The Internet as a delivery method.
The Virtual Reality (VR) technology is being utilised immensely in recent years for the purposes of demonstration and illustration a variety of prototypes and products especially on the world wide web platform. AquaFlux and Epsilon are two advanced research instruments that were developed by a research group at London South Bank University for medical and cosmetic purposes. These two medical tools have now been marketed in more than 200 organisations globally. However, for users to master and understand comprehensively how these two devices operate they often do require an intensive on-site training which is time-consuming, costly and in some cases like the current era of COVID-19 it becomes essential to offer clients the option of remote learning whether they were nationally or internationally based. Thus, the design of a VR environment that can simulate and envision all features and functionalities of AquaFlux and Epsilon is one of the ultimate solutions. 360degree VR videos are going to empower users with the required knowledge and provide a broad essential feeling of how AquaFlux and Epsilon instruments function.
3D design and 3D contents are becoming ever so popular in today's technology. The whole world is moving towards the 3D content platform, 3D printers, 3D TV sets, 3D mobiles etc. no exception to that is the web and all things in it. AquaFlux and Epsilon are two of our state of the art skin measurement instruments. Originally developed by our research group as research projects, AquaFlux and Epsilon have now been commercialised and used in more than 70 organisations worldwi de. However, due to the nature of the technologies, they often require on-site intensive training, which is expensive and time-consuming. There is a genuine need for an interactive virtual training environment that users can be trained whenever and wherever they want. This pa per demonstrates the development of a web-based interactive 3D virtual environment for these two skin measurement instruments to serve this demand. The new system contains detailed virtual user manuals, step by step interactive instructions that will direct the users on how to use these two skin measurement devices. The virtual environment will benefit users by giving users a very realistic feel about how these instruments work. VR (Virtual Reality) is an essential technology that will deliver to users the experience and knowledge in this regard.
In today's technology, 3D presentation is vital in conveying a realist and comprehensive understanding of a specific notion or demonstrating certain functionality for a specific device or tool, especially on the World Wide Web. Therefore, the importance of this field and how its continuous enhancement has become one of the dominant topics in web development research. Virtual Reality (VR) combined with the use of a 3D scene and 3D content is one of the best delivering mechanisms of this realist ambience to users. AquaFlux and Epsilon are clinical instruments that were built, designed, and developed at London South Bank University as research projects for medical and cosmetic purposes. Currently, They have been marketed and used in almost 200 institutions internationally. Nevertheless, considering the type of these tools, they often involve on-site thorough training, which is costly and time-consuming. There is a real necessity for a system or an application where the features and functionalities of these two instruments can be illustrated and comprehensively explained to clients or users. Virtual User Manual (VUM) environment would serve this purpose efficiently, especially if it is introduced in 3D content. The newly created system consists of a detailed virtual guide that will assist users and direct them on how to use these two devices step-by-step. Presenting this work in a VR immersed environment will benefit clients, user and trainees to fully understand all the features and characteristics of AquaFlux and Epsilon and to master all their functionalities.
