In an attempt at improving market orientation, management of organisations employ innovation strategies and practices that reflect this area of operation. Thus, this study investigated innovation strategies and market orientation in selected Nigerian banks. It specifically examined the effect of process, product, marketing and organisational innovation on market orientation among selected Nigerian banks. It is a field survey within a cross sectional time frame of 2021. A total of 399 management and senior staff of five deposit money banks with international affiliation constituted the sample size. Data was gotten from the primary source and generated through the administration of copies of questionnaire to respondents. Data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The outcomes of the study showed that process, marketing and organisational innovation have positive significant effect on market orientation among selected Nigerian banks. This study therefore recommends that deposit money banks should implement process, product, marketing and organisational innovation by putting in place the effective and efficient utilization of technologies in the areas of operations and service delivery. It also recommends that they cover wide areas of the market in terms of segmentation, market share, promotional activities, advertisement and other marketing areas so that they can attract new customers and new businesses so as to increase the demand and visibility of their products thus enhancing their customers’ satisfaction. Also, the study recommends constant engagement in organisational innovation in a bid to meet the changing competitive nature of the banking industry and the set international standard to enhance their market orientation vis-à-vis their overall performance.
In this study, we examined the impact of supply chain management practices (SCMP): strategic supplier partnership, customer relationship, level of information shared, and information quality on competitive advantage and organizational performance in the Nigerian manufacturing sector. In so doing, this study was set out to find out if these practices generate conditions that promote higher or lesser competitive advantage and organizational performance. The survey research design was adopted because the characteristics of the respondents were fully captured in other to make important decisions. A total number of 122 were found usable out of 146 copies of questionnaire circulated. The structural equation modelling (SEM) was the estimation technique employed to measure the relationships among the various variables/constructs using AMOS 22.0. It was found out that the four predictors (strategic supplier partnership, customer relationship, level of information shared, information quality) of SCMP had significant impact on organizational performance. The study also revealed that of the four independent variables, three (strategic supplier partnership, customer relationship, and level of information shared) had significant impact on competitive advantage, while information quality had no significant impact on competitive advantage. In response to our research questions, we concluded that the four constructs or predictors generate conditions that promote higher competitive advantage and organizational performance in the Nigerian manufacturing sector. The study recommended that manufacturing organizations should share quality, timely and accurate information to ensure their product offerings can be altered to meet customers while offering competitive prices. The study further recommended that organizations should assist its suppliers to improve product quality; regularly relate with clients to set dependability, receptiveness, and other standards; notify trading partners early when changing needs arises; and have fast product development.
The study examined how sustainable environmental performance is impacted by sustainable manufacturing practices in table water companies duly registered by National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). A random sample of 297 table water companies was used for the investigation out of which 247 were validly completed. Using the Mahalanobis distance approach, three responses demonstrated the presence of outliers which were deleted from the dataset. Therefore, 244 responses were used for the study. Multiple regression analysis was used to establish the statistical significance and relationship between sustainable manufacturing practices and environmental performance of the selected table water companies. The study found that the investigated sustainable manufacturing practices (sustainable product development, sustainable packaging, and sustainable waste management) have a positive and significant impact on the environmental performance of table water companies. The study recommends that table water companies should invest more resources in state-of-the-art production technologies that could enhance manufacturing process and reduce energy consumption.
This study investigated the perception of electronic procurement (eprocurement) system and rate of adoption in the federal public hospitals in Edo State of Nigeria. The rate of adoption is premised on Rogers' diffusion of innovations approach using the process of innovation characteristics: relative advantage, trialability, compatibility, observability, and complexity of e-procurement system to evaluate the rate at which organizations adopt new innovations. The degrees of difficulties faced by the hospitals in the adoption of eprocurement system and the benefits of the e-procurement system adoption were also studied. The study used convenience sampling technique to select 45 management staff of procurement departments of three federal public hospitals spread across Edo State. The Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) technique was used to estimate the model that was developed. The findings showed that the greatest challenge faced by the hospitals in the adoption of EPS was the lack of e-procurement system infrastructure due to inadequate funding. On the benefits of adopting EPS in the hospitals, the findings showed that reduction in wastage in the time lost in the process of procurement of materials and mistakes that emanate from retyping
This study examined the impact of employee satisfaction on the competitive advantage of selected virtual organisations in Lagos State, Nigeria. Specifically, it assessed the relationship between individual virtual competencies, motivation, organisational identity, autonomy, the nature of the work and the competitive advantage of virtual organisations in Lagos State, Nigeria. The survey research design was adopted for this study. The population of the study covered all staff in selected virtual organisations in Lagos State, Nigeria. A total of 400 copies of questionnaire were distributed and retrieved. Stratified random sampling procedure was used in administering the copies of questionnaire to selected virtual organisations in Lagos State, Nigeria. The data collected through questionnaire administration was analysed using descriptive statistics such as frequency distribution, mean and standard deviation. Multiple regression analysis was used to test the null hypotheses and estimate the research model using the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) technique through the use of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 24. The study found out that there is a significant positive relationship between individual virtual competencies, motivation, organisational identity, the nature of the work and competitive advantage while revealing that there is a positive and non-significant relationship between autonomy and the competitive advantage of virtual organisations in Lagos State, Nigeria. The study recommended that virtual organisations employ individuals that have the required skills and competencies needed to perform the various organisational tasks, motivate their employees intrinsically and extrinsically, possess a strong brand image, allow employees experience freedom to do their tasks and duties at their own pace and take cognisance of employees that work in dispersed locations with peculiar difficulties in those varied locations so that they will contribute more to the competitive advantage of the virtual organisation.
