-Nilothauma canaima n. sp. from Bolı´var State in southeastern Venezuela, Nilothauma granma n. sp. from Granma Province in eastern Cuba and Nilothauma soka n. sp. from Amazonas State in Brazil are described and figured as males. N. canaima can be grouped with Nearctic Nilothauma verrucum Adam and Saether, but can be separated based on its small size as it has a wing length < 1.3 mm and an AR = 0.13. N. granma can be grouped with Nearctic Nilothauma babiyi (Rempel) and Neotropical Nilothauma matogrossense Mendes and Andersen, but can be separated from both as it has a wing with distinct, dark areas. N. soka can be grouped with Neotropical Nilothauma aripuanense Mendes and Andersen, but can be separated based on the shape of the superior volsella as it has a boot-shaped superior volsella with microtrichia only. A key is given to the males of Nilothauma from the New World.
Polypedilum (Pentapedilum) tuburcinatum Andersen et Bello González sp. n. is described and figured as male, female, pupa and larva based on material collected in the Eastern Cape Province in South Africa, imported into quarantine in Ireland and reared in the laboratory. The species feeds on the aquatic weed Lagarosiphon major (Ridl.) Moss ex Wager and is regarded as a promising candidate agent for biological control of this invasive weed.
The genus Perithreticus is recorded for the first time from Central America and the Caribbean. Two new species are described and figured: P. arboscandens Kvifte & Andersen, n. sp. from Zurquí,
Se cita por primera vez para Cuba a Ablabesmyia (Karelia) cinctipes (Johannsen, 1946). Las larvas fueron encontradas asociadas a la vegetación acuática en una laguna somera y criadas en condiciones de laboratorio.
