Given the economic realities in Nigeria, the country must constantly create new jobs, and diversify the industrial and commercial sector to take advantage of human and natural resources through entrepreneurship development. The present research aims to identify the role of government policies on the relationship between innovations, technology and entrepreneurship development in Nigeria. Questionnaire was distributed to Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in Osun State. Structural Equation Model was used to analyze data using Partial Least Square Method (PLS 3). The results based on findings shows that a positive significant effect was found between government support, innovation and technology on entrepreneurship development. Government policies were found to have fully moderate the relationship between innovation, technology and entrepreneurship development. Government polices was found to be the most explanatory variable of the study having the highest effect on the entrepreneurship development. Therefore, the study recommends that government should enact policies that will encourage and promote the use of technology and support innovative ideas to bring economic growth through entrepreneurship development.
Abstract:The study examined the effect of workplace spirituality (meaningful work, inner life and community) on employee turnover intention in Nigeria banks mediated by relational psychological contract. Data were collected from a sample of 357 employees in 21 Deposit Money Banks located in Kaduna State. Structural Equation Model was used to explore the effect. Findings revealed that meaningful work has positive, significant effect on employee turnover intention while inner life and community were found to have insignificant effect on employee turnover intention. Relational psychological contract was found to have fully mediating effect between workplace spirituality (inner life, meaningful work and community) and employee turnover intention. The most explanatory variable of the study is the relationship that exists between meaningful work and relational psychological contract. The study recommends that management of Banks should attach more importance to meaningful work and relational psychological contract of employees to reduce employee turnover intention.
Purpose: Lack of employee commitment to their organization has been reported as one of the numerous challenges faced by the Nigerian Civil Service. The study investigated the mediating role of work happiness on the relationship between value congruence and organizational commitment in Federal Public Service in Abuja, Nigeria. Method: Data were collected from the Nigerian Civil Service staff in Abuja, Nigeria. Following the random sampling technique, a total of 386 responses were used for data analysis. Data were analyzed using SmartPLS 3. Results: Findings revealed that value congruence and work happiness have a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment. Work happiness is also found to have fully mediated the relationship between value congruence and organizational commitment. Implication: The study implies that value congruence and work happiness are factors to be considered in getting employees committed to organizational goals and objectives. It also recommends that regulatory authority should ensure a congenial environment for the staff of Federal Civil Service that would make them happy and committed to the organization.
