The aim of this study was to evaluate the Vickers Hardness of four different denture base materials. Four different denture base materials were used in this study: Heat-cured pink acrylic resin, self-cured acrylic resin, heat-cured clear acrylic resin and polyamide denture base materials. Totally 80 disc shaped samples which 2 mm thickness and 40 mm diameter were prepared. The samples were stored in distilled water after polished. Then, Vickers Hardness test was performed with TMTeck HV-1000B (200 gram at 15 second). The statistically analysis of obtained data was performed with use one-way analysis of variance test. The results showed that the highest Vickers Hardness value (18.57 HV) was identified in heat-cured (pink) acrylic resin, the lowest Vickers Hardness value (9.62 HV) was identified in polyamide denture base materials. The result of oneway analysis of variance test showed that there were statistically very highly significant differences between four denture base materials of Vickers Hardness (p < 0.001). The obtained data presented that the self-cured denture base acrylic resin was the hardnest denture base materials.
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different bleaching agents on the surface roughness and color stability of feldspathic porcelain. Material and Methods: In this study, totally 40 disc-shaped Noritake and Ceramco 3 feldspathic porcelain and two bleaching agents (Opalescence Boost and Opalescence Pf) were used. Bleaching agents were exposed to specimens according to their protocol. Then, the surface roughness of the specimens was evaluated with profilometer and the color of the specimens was recorded by colorimeter. Statistical analysis of the data was performed with IBM SPSS Statistics 20. Results: The results showed that that there were statistically significant differences between the bleaching agents on the surface roughness of feldspathic porcelain (p<0.05). However, there were no statistically significant differences between the bleaching agents on the color stability of feldspathic porcelain (p>0.05). Conclusion: The obtained data presented that the bleaching agents increased the surface roughness and not affect the color stability of the feldspathic porcelain.KeywordsBleaching; Ceramic; Color; Surface roughness.
Materials and Methods: 30 heat-cured PMMA and 30 polyamide; totally 60 disc-shaped base materials were used in this study. As repair materials; heatcured PMMA, autopolymerising PMMA, light-cured denture resin repair materials were used. Also 60 acrylic resin denture teeth with/ without retention groove were used. The bonding strengths of the samples were measured at a speed of 1 mm / min on a universal test machine. The data obtained were statistically analyzed with two way-ANOVA. Results: In polyamide denture base group, shear bond strengths of light cured denture resin repair material was statistically higher than heat-cured PMMA and autopolymerising PMMA groups (p<0.001). Similarly in heat-cured PMMA denture base group, shear bond strength of light cured denture repair material was higher than autopolymerising PMMA and heat-cured PMMA subgroups but there was no statistically significant difference between subgroups (p>0.05). Retention groove of denture teeth doesn't affect subgroup's shear bond strengths significantly except the polyamide base material repaired with light-cured denture resin (p>0.05). Conclusion:It was denture repair materia...
