ChemInform Abstract The mechanism of the reaction outlined in the scheme involves oxidation of H2N2O2 to an intermediate, probably H2N2O3, which decomposes to yield N2O and an isomer of HNO2 that subsequently reacts with one more H2N2O2 to yield N2 and HNO3. The active species in this redox reaction are found to be CeSO42+ and HN2O2-. A rate law which is in agreement with the kinetic results is derived.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
