Neutron scattering experiments on an insulating single crystal of Lai.sSnuNiC^ show the presence of strong two-dimensional incommensurate magnetic correlations in the NiCh planes. At low temperatures, r = 2 K, these exist on time scales r > 10 ~M s. The typical side length of the correlated regions in the direction parallel to the incommensurate modulation is equal to the average spacing between strontium atoms.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
