A Probabilistic approach to Robust Controller design using engineering design objectives
AbstractConventional controllers based on the optimization of performance criteria are often very sensitive with respect to model uncertainty. This paper presents a new robust controller design method which deals with uncertainty by means of a probabilistic approach, in which the model parameter vector is assumed to be a realization of a stochastic vector with known probability density function. The criteria imposed on the controller are a direct representation of the required design specifications in practical situations and are stated in t e r m of inequalities. Robustness is realized by maximization of the probability of simultaneous realization of the design specifications. Simulation experiments show that this method provides a favorable balance between control performance and robustness.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
