Anomalous X-ray scattering factors at photon energies close to absorption edges are calculated by applying the dispersion relation to absorption spectra. Absolute absorption coefficients are obtained from measured relative spectral distributions normalised to known absolute cross sections. The calculated scattering factors are corrected for relativistic contributions. Results for Ni, Cu, Zn, and Zr close to the K-edges and for Ta, W, Pt and Au near the respective L-edges are presented and compared with published scattering factors.
Aqueous solutions of ZnCl2, ZnBr2 and ZnI2 in the concentration range from 0.1 molal up to saturation have been studied by EXAFS experiments at the zinc K-edge. EXAFS spectra of the crystalline compounds of ZnCl2, ZnBr2, ZnI2 and ZnSO4*7H2O have been used as references. I n the low concentration range up to 0.5 molal a complete hydration of the zinc ions by 6 - 7 water molecules is observed. At high concentrations above 5 molal the mean local coordination around the zinc ions consists of halide ions and water molecules
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
