A compact broadband microstrip to slotline transition is designed and experimentally studied. An elliptical tapered profile and patches are used to minimise the discontinuity effect of field variation from microstrip to slotline within a short range. A prototype of the back-to-back version transition is also fabricated. Measured results validate the design concept.
In this paper, a simple broadband cross-junction balun is presented to realize the unbalance to balance transition from microstrip line to slotline. Overlapped elliptical stubs and multisection matching transformer with unequal section lengths are applied to achieve the desired broadband performance. The proposed configuration is simulated and experimentally studied. Both results validate the design concept, indicating that the transition is capable of working in a 22:1 bandwidth.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
