Because the polaron coupling constant in tellurium is relatively large, polar optical scattering should be important in the charge transport by free carriers. Reflection and transmission measurements on heavily doped samples in the far infrared yield the amount and the frequency dependence of the free carrier scattering in the spectral region of the reststrahlen bands. From the amount of the increase in scattering a t the eigenfrequency of the LO phonons the contribution of polaron scattering can be determined.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
