Summary. The formation of atmospheric cyclones depends substantially oil friction and exchange, friction of the air at the earth's surface on the one, isentropic lateral mixing on the other hand. This fact, hitherto unknown but now incontestable, provides us with the key for the solution of the many cyclogenetic problems, for their classification and for the elimination of contradictions. Above all the central problem gets a satisfactory solution: the joint formation of cyclonic whirl and depression through all layers of troposphere (and substratosphere). 45 individual results are summarized at the end of each paragraph 5 to 49.
Summary. C.L. GODSICE [2] considered all possible waves in a simple, nonrotating fluid model with three homogeneous layers, which flow one over the other. The present author tries to find an application of GODSKE'S results to the atmosphere, which can be looked upon as a fluid of three layers, if the troposphere has an inner boundary surface (frontal surface). Here the deflecting or Coriolis force shows its powerful influence on large space wave.problems. That may be a hint, that the frontal cyclones mainly are not three layer waves of this kind.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
