Monitoring is an important issue for FRP strengthening systems in order to control their health state. Strain gauges are often used for this aim, but the measures to be utilised can be affected by various factors. In this paper the influence of various factors is taken into account, such as the characteristics of resin coating, the type of glue and the gauge length. The theoretical approach developed in previous work performed on a deterministic basis is extended here to the probabilistic field. The objective is to make a sensitivity analysis of the basic variables which can cause errors in strain measurements. Additionally, the effect of the deviation of the direction of the gauges from the longitudinal direction of the FRP sheets is considered and the existing approach is extended to take this into account.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
