ABSTRACTThe original purpose of this work was to indicate evidences of degradation in the only coastal site to have been registered by the Historical Inheritance of Paraná State as a monument, the Guaraguaçu sambaqui (25º35'48'' S, 48º28'12'' W), suggesting activities to connect local indigenous communities with the archaeological site protection. The methods of analysis were from the documentation analysis until mapping of results. The environmental analysis of the area could show some factors of actual debasement, evolving natural processes, as the erosional action of a streamlet, and processes due to human occupation, as the shell sliding in the footpath that conveys to the top of the mound.
