Introducción: la familia es el grupo fundamental para incrementar el estado de salud de los adultos mayores, ya que promueve el bienestar y el desarrollo psicoemocional en los cuales la depresión es considerada como problema de salud pública pues involucra no sólo la intervención familiar sino también la del sector salud. Objetivo: determinar la relación que existe entre depresión y funcionalidad familiar en el adulto mayor que acude a una unidad de salud de segundo nivel de atención en Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, México. Material y métodos: estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo-transversal y correlacional realizado con 139 adultos mayores en una institución de salud de la localidad mediante muestreo probabilístico aleatorio simple, a través de entrevista y aplicación del Apgar familiar y escala de Yesavage. Los datos se analizaron mediante el programa SPSS v.22 a través de estadística descriptiva e inferencial. Resultados: edad promedio 68.14 años, predominio femenino 63%, con escolaridad primaria 87%; 80% con ausencia de sintomatología depresiva, 81% bajo un entorno familiar normofuncional. Conclusión: si existe relación entre ambas variables (p= 0.01).

En el adolescente se hace más evidente ocasionando malestar, lo que provoca tendencia a presentar baja autoestima, depresión, ansiedad, problemas de conducta, resultando relevante para enfermería abordar este tema. Objetivos: identificar el nivel de autoestima en un grupo de adolescentes con sobrepeso y obesidad en Ciudad Victoria, como oportunidad de intervención de Enfermería en el ámbito escolar. Material y métodos: estudio descriptivo, observacional y transversal con 54 adolescentes de secundaria con sobrepeso y obesidad. Mediante cédula de recolección de datos personales y Escala de Autoestima de Rosemberg (1989). El análisis se hizo mediante el Programa SPSS V.23. Resultados: existe autoestima de tipo media en la mayoría 46,2%, no existiendo significancia estadística entre hombres y mujeres (Rs -0,72, p=0,49, tampoco en los grupos de sobrepeso-obesidad ( Rs 0,96, p= 0,65). Conclusiones: similar a lo comentado por otros autores en los adolescentes es necesario reconocer que hay múltiples aspectos y dimensiones que influyen en la autovaloración y con ello establecer un punto de partida para promover mejores estilos de vida de forma saludable donde la escuela se convierte en una gran oportunidad de mejora para Enfermería.PALABRAS CLAVE: autoestima, adolescente, sobrepeso y obesidad. In the adolescent it becomes more evident causing discomfort, which causes tendency to present low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, behavior problems, being relevant for Nursing to address this issue. Objectives: to identify the level of self-esteem in a group of adolescents with overweight and obesity in Ciudad Victoria, as an opportunity for Nursing intervention in the school environment. Material and methods: a descriptive, observational and cross-sectional study with 54 secondary school students with overweight and obesity. Through a personal data collection and Rosemberg Scale of Self-Esteem (1989). The analysis was done through the SPSS V.23 Program. Results: there is medium-type selfesteem in the majority of cases (46.2%), there was no statistically significant difference between men and women (Rs -0.72, p = 0.49.Not in the overweight-obesity groups (Rs 0.96, p = 0.65). Conclusions: similar to what has been commented by other authors in adolescents, it is necessary to recognize that there are multiple aspects and dimensions that influence self-assessment and thus establish a starting point to promote better lifestyles in a healthy way where the school becomes a great opportunity Of improvement for Nursing.

Objective: To evaluate the presence of risk factors for chronic non-communicable diseases among students enrolled in the Nursing School of Victoria, Tamaulipas, for the period of January-May, 2016. Methods: Descriptive, transversal study including 139 newly enrolled students from a Nursing School. Students were evaluated at the beginning of the school period. Health data were obtained from the students' individual clinical files. Results: Blood pressure and body mass index values were within normal ranges. Most students did not perform a physical activity; 24.5% had a family history of diabetes mellitus and 13.7% of arterial hypertension. Conclusions: Although results indicate that the new student population have a good health condition, it is necessary to reinforce good lifestyles, such as physical activity and good nutrition, to prevent the appearance of chronic non-communicable diseases.
