LASER POWER INFLUENCE TO CUT AN NiTi ALLOY WITH HARDENED AUSTENITE AbstractThe purpose of this work was to evaluate the influence of fiber Yb:glass laser power, respect to the extent of structural effects promoted and the possibility of cutting an austenitic equiatomic NiTi alloy plate with structure hardening evidence. After trying laser cutting, the material characterization was performed by Optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) / X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and instrumented ultra-micro hardness analysis. According to the results, it can be seen that none of the laser cutting parameters used in three distinct cutting was sufficient to promote the sheets separation, and revealed recrystallization evidences in conjunction of a significant surface oxidation on heat-affected zone.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
