Division of Sanitary Sewers evaluated treatment methods and corrosion rates present in force mains associated with three major pump stations. The evaluation consisted of improved chemical dosing, performance monitoring and corrosion coupon exposure to assess a corrosion rate for each associated force main.Hydrogen sulfide control is critical in odor and corrosion control. Treatment systems utilized maintained average hydrogen sulfide vapor concentrations below 10 ppmv. Corrosion rates were measured in each system. The corrosion rate measurements were consistent within an order of magnitude and were within the boundary of corrosion rates expected.LFUCG was able to validate an odor and corrosion control treatment method, and quantify a corrosion rate associated with the treatment method.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
